Click on this and then on the “Shaeens” MPEG, great classic footage of PAF Sabres follwed by F-16s….
Cant play them on realplayer dude….
COOL!
Although the you dont have a kickin TATU track on yours! 🙂
I dont think this is relevant for this forum, although quite interesting news……
Wolverine
Czech and Hungary, as NATO members, may be expected to contribute to NATO operations in the future. They require aircraft that are not only very good but also of NATO standard. Pakistan will become the only third world operator of such an aircraft.
Guys
Since when did this become the Indian AF thread!?
PAF are getting a NATO standard air defence system with possibly the worlds only netcentric air warfare network, a fighter chosen by South Africa, Czech, Sweden and Hungary. Possibly a AEW plane already chosen by Greece and Sweden
I would say that combined with induction of FC-1 will make Pakistans air space very secure
Why have no NATO countries purchsed Phalcon or SU-30!?
Ja
Maybe you should do some research before posting, Pakistan already has air and sub launched Harpoons.
Regards
Exactly… I wonder why one third of all threads must be devoted to the dozen of rusty Lawndarts PAF has left from early 80s and another third to the possible ‘damn big deal for PAF’ with even more rusty AH-1s and Hueys..
Since I have come to the forum Pakistan has not acquired one single aircraft worth mention, they just keep flying their rusty old cans but the immense extent of discussing the PAF is really sickening me to death..
They why on earth are you reading this thread, no one is forcing you to, for some people the news is of interest, so why not let those interested just read it, and you can read anything that interests you. Is that fair? I dont really have an interest in the multitude of threads on other subjects, I simply ignore them, can you do the same?
I think the long PAF love affair with the F-16 has come to an end, LM cant compete with Gripen unless they offer the latest block F-16
Well, even if all rumours should become truth, there’s no need to boast and claim dominance.
The Gripen is an excellent home defence asset, but not much more. It clearly has its limitations in range and weapon load. This could be a good signal saying: “We’re not really in a position to attack you, but don’t mess with us, we’re prepared.”
This could actually contribute to a more peaceful neighbourhood.
Thats always been Pakistans strategy, just to make any attack as costky as possible for India
Yeah, Erieye and Gripen should be enough to secure Pakistan air space for the forseeable future
(June 7, 2004): In what might be the biggest ever military deal Sweden has signed reliable sources have quoted senior officials of SAAB, Ericsson Microwave Systems and Volvo-Aero saying that Pakistan is on the verge of concluding deals worth more than $4.7billion. The deal includes Saab Gripen fighter aircrafts and Ericsson Microwave Systems Erieye AEW&C mission systems along with extensive support systems. Sources are further quoted as saying that Pakistan will buy 44 Gripen fighters with an option to buy another 60 aircrafts and an undisclosed number of Erieye AEW&C surveillance aircrafts.
OK
Any chance we can go pack to talking about the title of this thread, or has it been successfully hijacked by the same old suspects!?
Groo
You getting away from the point here, its irrelevent if France made a profit of loss (by teh way, whats the source of your claim!?), but they did certianly demand $3 Billion from Pakistan, now I put it to you again, if Pakistan could pay $3 Bliion then, when it was almost bankrupt, whats to stop it paying $4 Billion now for a fighter purchase, when its economy is at the strongest its been for 2 decades!?
I would not get rid of the F-16s, although small in number, by retaining them Pakistan could dedicate all of the remaining F-16s to Night Strike/ Nuclear strike roles, leaving the Gripens for pure air defence work
