Another 30 Grifo equipped ROSE mirages would go down quite well! Think PAG can upgrade them for night strike as well, using Atlis and PGMs
Zimbabwae buying the FC-1 is not the best PR for the project……
Or they could have just been added to AMRAAM test firing as the internal bay may not have been ready yet
Comical, I do not think so
Pakistan is not the US, it does and will not have air superiority, transport helos while being limited in numbers only work well when you have air superiority, hence the US comparison is mute, no other country can contemplate such a one sided affair. As far as attack heloes, just have a look at the manpad inventory of the subcontinent and you will quickly understand what I mean, no wonder the Apaches remained grounded in Kosovo, technical problems my foot, as far as Iraq, look at the Apache losses, a damn farmer shot it down, many came back heavily damaged against a an undertrained underequipped enemy, now give these enemies some decent manpads and AA and things would have been quite different. The subcontinent will have the densest air defence especially when it comes to manpads, AA guns etc, maybe only in Kashmir where a heli can run away behind a mountain fast but anywhere else, forget about it. See the Chechen video and you will understand, a supersonic missile vs an attack heli, lol, good damn luck.

Stick to the point, you orginally said choppers are of no use in a abttle envoironment, not all MANPADS are guarnteed to shoot down choppers, especially those flying very low level nap of the earth missions at night, exactly what PA AH-1s will be doing at night and in bad weather, so AAA and MANPADS will not have an easy time finding these choppers, especially using ambush tactics
This thread rocks!
If they want to have a more effective armed forces, they should invest in the PN by doubling their sub force and buy some 4.5 gen fighters, not helicoptrs, helicoptors do not belong in this modern day battlefield anymore, they are just too slow and are a waste of money, if an Iraqi farmer can bring down an Apache, imagine people with manpads, see the recent heli shoot down video by Chechens on the forum for details.
Absolute rubbish, almost every modern army is investing in new transport and attack choppers to make there forces more mobile.
Even the last Gulf War saw the utility of such an air mobile force, with the US 101st Airborne able to lift an entire Brigade behine Iraqi lines in one go.
If you are going to make such comical statments at least have some proof to back you arguments up, the loss of some Apaches during the Gulf does not take away from what they have acheived during the past 10-15 years in US service
Wolverine
I dont think its just 13 choppers mate.
Pakistan recent helicopter aqquisition list looks like this
12 MI-17 deilvered in 1995 plus 13 more ordered now
10 Huey 2s
40 UH-1s on order
40 AH-1s on order
30 Bell 412s on order
The end result is Pakistani forces will be more mobile and flexible, our chopper strength has alsmost doubled. The same number of men can be in more places more quickly, many would argue that is a force multiplier.
I am sure if you ask the head of the 101st Air Assault Div if his division was not more capable then a standard infantry div you would get the right answer…
Indian
The orderlys would be required to fufill roles during war, as do Batmen in most armies that have them, so in effect, it is a cut in troop strength, obviously we are not talking elite commandos here, but these guys do have military training.
Yes, our officers will be less comfortable
All good stuff, Pakistan Army is well on the way to becoming a more mobile and leaner force, with Chopper fleet set to double and a cutback in troop stregth
Seahawk
I agree with you, we seem to suffer an overload of Russian and Chinese types, but this may be due to the fact that infomation on these types is harder to come by then it is for western types, hence the many questions and threads on them. Finally, the nature of any forum is a reflection of its membership….
Maybe more people of western orgine or interested in western aircraft would change the nature of the posts…….
Crown Prince Frederik has apparently a golden wing attached on his right chest. Is is a pilot wing?
He’s attached to something much prettier then golden wings now mate! She is a cutie…… 😉
India and Italy AF’s seem pretty similar….

No, the JSF will never go to Pakistan, not for a long time anyway, but they can always dream, however, there is a good possibility that they get the J-10 after 2010.
Congratulations on your recent appointment as Penatgon spokesman, you dont know what sort of military relationship US and Pak may have in the next few years, so better to not rule out something compltely ratehr then look stupid
right now the US is delivering
40 AH-1Fs
40 UH-1s
8 new ground radars
6 Areostat Radars
6 C-130s
6 P=3Cs
and the F-16 talks including for 24 “new versions” are (according to Flight International) in prgoress
So I would not completly rule out JSF at all….
