No idea. I doubt it though, because I think that the JSF range/payload capabilities are far exceeded by the Su-30MKI, aren’t they? Anyhoo, this is all in the realm of conjecture right now, so I wouldn’t take it too seriously.
Surely the F-35s stealth capabilities will enable it to defeat teh SU-30 in a dogfight!?

Yes. The Major NonNATO terrorist state is going to get JSFs 😀
Yes, and where there is a PAF discussion there are Indian flamers…
Even though it is VERY PREMATURE to talk about the JSF in PAF colours, if Dubya does win the next election, it is not a total impossibility…….
would 24 JSFs give the PAF an instant edge over SU-30MKI!?

Pakistan is seeking to upgrade and bolster its fleet of Lockheed Martin F-16 fighters as part of a modernisation plan made possible by its new major non-NATO ally status with the USA.
Industry sources say Lockheed Martin, Pakistan and the USA have begun discussing a mid-life update for Pakistan’s existing fleet of 32 F-16A/Bs. Pakistan also hopes to acquire up to 18 used F-16A/Bs from the USA or other operators and in the long-term may revive long-delayed plans to also purchase up to 24 new-generation F-16s.
The proposed F-16 upgrade is the major piece in a revamp of Pakistan’s US-made military equipment inventory that will be primarily funded from US aid. Washington has already agreed to give Pakistan six excess Lockheed Martin C-130B transports and there are also talks to provide six additional Lockheed Martin P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft and an upgrade to the Pakistan army’s Bell AH-1F Cobra attack helicopters.
Pakistan has already signed a letter of agreement for the surplus C-130s, which should be delivered by early next year following an aircraft restoration and minor electrical upgrade project led by Lockheed Martin. The Pakistan air force already operates 10 C-130B/Es.
The USA is still waiting for Pakistan to provide a letter of request for the F-16 mid-life update. Sources say it must first decide on a configuration for the aircraft, and then the USA must approve the export of each requested piece of equipment. The two countries must also decide whether some of the work can be sourced locally at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC).
Pakistan, with the help of the PAC, was able to keep its F-16s and Cobras flying throughout a long embargo imposed by the USAafter Pakistan conducted nuclear trials in 1998, but its two P-3Cs had to be grounded. Pakistan is now working on a plan to reactivate the aircraft, along with the six surplus USNavy Orions now on offer.

Z-9 would be a step backwards for Pakistan Navy, especially when others are intruducing Seahawks and Merlins into this role…

France will sell to whoever puts up the money. It is not the same case as Russia since the French companies do not depend as much as their Russian counterparts on dollars from their main customers (e.g. Sukhoi would perhaps cease to exist without the Chinese and Indian orders). Their main and first customer is the French military itself and foreign sales are icing on the cake. France also does not have the foreign policy objectives like the US (or its poodle) and that gives it more freedom in its military sales. Its past record shows that it has no problems in simultaneously selling arms to both India and Pakistan without jeopardising its relationship with either.
That was exactly my point!
A visit does not mean much Seahawk, what about this!?
ACM Mushaf To Visit US & France To Discuss F-16 & Mirage 2000
26th April, 2002, Kyodo News Service
Pakistan is expected to receive $100 million from the United States for logistic support provided to U.S. aircraft during the U.S. military campaign in Afghanistan, the chief of the Pakistan Air Force said.
Air Chief Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir told Kyodo News in an interview Thursday that the issue of payment for the use of Pakistani facilities by U.S. Air Force would come up during his visit to the U.S. next month.
The U.S. military used at least four Pakistani air bases, at Pasni, Dalabandin, Shamsi and Jacobabad, for its antiterrorism campaign in Afghanistan.
Mir said Pakistan has been billing the U.S. government for the use of its facilities on a daily basis but has not received any payment so far. Mir said he plans to discuss with U.S. officials the delivery of F-16 warplanes Pakistan has bought — but not delivered — from the U.S. but he was not hopeful of a quick F-16 deal under the present state of tension between Pakistan and India.
He said he would also explore the possibility of upgrading the F-16 warplanes already in service in Pakistan with more firepower, as well as supply of spare parts. He said an understanding on the supply of spare parts was reached during President Pervez Musharraf’s visit to the U.S. in February. Mir said finance is no longer a problem for the acquisition of new warplanes and Pakistan has been holding talks with France for the supply of Mirage 2000 warplanes.
In an apparent criticism of U.S. military sanctions, Mir said France has always ”stood by us,” adding that after the presidential election in France is over, the two sides would resume discussions about the sale of Mirage aircraft to Pakistan. The Pakistan Navy and Air Force are equipped with French hardware, as the Pakistani government has been subject to military sanctions the U.S. imposed in retaliation against Pakistan’s clandestine nuclear program.
Recently Pakistan has purchased subs and upgraded mirag 5’s from France, so no major “consequences” at the momment….

Well guys IAF has announced that any new aircraft that will enter IAF’s service will be multirole. So no specialized/dedicated version of M2K-5 will be sought after.
If anything will come it will be the multirole M2K-5 or its variant. It will be interesting to see how much ToT is france willing to provide. The money flowing into french hands from this deal could well be used towards purchase of rafale for french air force or further development of the aircraft.
also, any missile that comes along with Mirage will be produced locally in india by BDL as per memorandum of understanding signed by BDL and MBDA last year.
also, this will come up as a shock for pakistan who want their JF-17 to be euipped with RC-400 and Sagem EW suite.
Lets wait until the time our air chief is officially there and lets see what cooks up in the meeting between him and Dassault.
Lets wait till there is something signed before you start declaring the “shock” Pakistan will have, at teh momment all you have are a few dodgy media reports….

Let me guess why? Because your PAF operates one version of the same aircraft and you’re dreaming about getting more? I would’nt be surprised if you were getting the F-7MF instead tommorow and you guys would’nt spare us by instantaneously saying that it would be just as good as well? 😀Do any job? Let’s see. Can it haul an 8000 kg weaponload over a range of 3400 km on internal fuel alone? Can it carry 14 AAMs, most of them being BVRAAMs? Can it’s IRST reliably detect fighters at well beyond BVR ranges head-on? Does it have the revolutionary TVC? Rearwards facing radar? I have’nt even begun, boy.
Yep I repeat. Compared to the Su-30, the outdated block-50 and the pregnant-block-60 are truely worthless especially when you are paying twice as much.
RBE-2, no thanks. As we speak, the RBE-2 can’t even boast of air to ground modes. Last time I checked, it could’nt exceed the RDY in range. NIIP has more experience with stuff like the Zaslon. Enough said. 😀
The Agile beam is’nt in service yet. It’s small and it’s LRUs and power units need to squeeze into the F-16’s nose.
Your site link is informative but lots of stuff in it are wrong. For example, the APG-77 has 2000+ T/R modules, not less.
Actually the Su-27 would really eat it up. Far better endurance, agility, armament etc. The same way, the F-15C should easily eat up a shortlegged early model Mig-29, except in the maneuverability part.
A single L005 Sorbtisya should also be more powerful than an EL/M-8222. I’m not sure if the Su-30MKI has the Sorbtisya though.
Where’s our resident F-16 expert Arthur, when you need him? 😀

Please, please, please get over your obsession with the PAF, have they really scarred your pysche that much that we always have to bring them up!? This thread is about F-16 vs SU-30MKI, PAF dont even operate F-16 Block 60, so lets stick to the subject!
http://www.f-16.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=9&page=1
according to teh above link, Block 60 can fire SLAM, JSOW and ASRAAM, has a radar and electronics suite that looks far superior to anything teh SU-30 has…..
Sabreace
A block 60 or an F-16I can basically do any job the SU-30MKI can do, has a better radar, better ECM and arguably better weapons! It, along with the F-15E are Americas finest in service aviation products…..
Sabreace
The Block 60 has much more range then an ordainary F-16 and one of the best radars around as well as very advanced stand off munitions, if you think its “over priced crap”, then that reflects more on you then the F-16….
If you wanna make cheap comments about teh PAF do it somewhere else! Cheers!
No matter how good the likes of Gripen/Eurofighter/Rafeal is the problem is that US goods will always have a huge advantge
1) Purchase of US fighters aligns a country more closely wih the US, this will be important in many cases (South Korea, Egypt etc)
2) In any future regional conflicte countries may have advantges in operating US equipment, this is certainlky teh case in NATO and the likes of Kuwait, Saudi etc Will be interoperable with US forces
3) Due to large scale purhcases by teh US military, the prices of the JSD and even F-22 may come down in the future
See, its not exactky fair competition is it?
As some one pointed out, it does depend on what block of F-16 would go up against a SU-30MKI
A standard F-16A Block 15 would clearly be at a disadvantge, while things would be more then evened up in a Block 52/60
