40 Cobras seem to be on the way, 6 C-130 have been delivered, and there should be some P-3Cs coming soon
I think Pakistan is wisely getting replacement and additional kit for all the US systems it has, but not purchasing any new systems, at least this way should sanctions be slapped on us again, we will have larger spares pools and fleets of UH-1s, AH-1s, C-130s and P-3s so that cannabalising a few will not be that detrimental to our defence posture

…and thats the future of PA aviation? doesnt sound threatening..
no Hellfires either?
Whny would PA want Hellfires with Hueys!?
We would probably upgrade these to Huey II and they are being delivered free of charge, it would be silly to refuse them, they can still provide a good utility service, just like the Indian MI8s and alouttes that are 30 odd years old…..
Many thanks steve
If you look under the 1997 Brown Ammendment Cobra spares were delivered then as well, so it seems Pakistans Cobra fleet may have been one of the least affected by sanctions, in addition to this Jordan (RJAF lent PAF planes in the past) could have been a source of spare parts for AH-1F as they have a close relationship with Pakistan and also operate the F version, but that is just me speculating….

PAF FanI think the list you’re referring to is a carry-over from the previous country (probably Oman at a guess) and the entry for Pakistan is just that one in the middle of that page.

Bugger, your right! My mistake, many apologies, I just cut and pasted the whole url
Indian, as you said, lets leave it! I GENUINELY dont care if you belive me or not, I have my opnion, you have yours and the tank net people have theirs. Is that fair now? Are you happy? Can we stick to chatting about choppers? This was turning out to be a very informative thread, lets keep it that way.

Here is a 1998 report detailing commercial military sales to Pakistan, its lists helicopter spare parts but does not list chopper type, so it may be UH-1 or AH-1

you can look it up in the ‘new indian tanks’ thread of their AFV forum, no need to pursue it here anymore.
A guy called Forrest Gump said that all Pakistani tanks can fly, I agree, no need to pursue it here……..
Hi steve
Here is an FMS report for Pakistan for 2002, it doeas not list type of aircraft spares, but we can safely assume F-16/C-130 or AH-1
http://www.fas.org/asmp/profiles/655-2002/FMS/Pakistan.pdf
Interesting news report, thanks!
Unfortunately not Steve, just what I have been told, that spares for F-16s and Cobras have been arriving and being used….
Yes, I think the 2 cobra sqds come under command of Multan Corps, this is one of teh most modern non-nato armored corps, T-80s, CNITE Cobras, upgraded M113s etc
Pakistans premier formation
Situation on Cobra spares was OK under the 1997 Brown ammendment a large consignment was delivered, and I assume Pakistan has no problem maintianing them now, I beleive all 20 are still operational
Well, I have to admit it, we really screwed up here……..
Well, I have to admit it, we really screwed up here……..
I am not anti A-5, its a nice plane, very “classic” looking, I just dont think it has a place on the modern battlefield, it cannot operate at night and bad weather for starters!
Pakistan should donate these to Afghanistan to help give them a basic capability to patrol their own airspace as well as CAS aganst Al Qadea and Taliban
Retrofits: Later modifications have included C-Nite equipment fitted to 50 US Army AH-1Fs (reduced from planned 500), Air-to-Air Stinger (ATAS) and Cobra Fleet Life Extension (C-Flex), engine air filter, redesigned swashplate, M43 nuclear/biological/chemical mask, AN/AVR-2 laser warning and improved SCAS roll modifications. C-Nite FLIR for TOW sight delivered 1990 to US Army’s Aviation Battalion in South Korea. C-Flex items already completed include Nite Fix lighting, AH-1G-to-AH-1S upgrade and K-Flex driveshaft; remaining C-Flex work includes rotor improvements, improved TOW test set and radio upgrade.
