ONBOARD PRIME MINISTER’S SPECIAL PLANE (December 12 2003): Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said on Thursday that defence co-operation between France and Pakistan was the main focus of discussion during his stay in Paris, including talks on Mirage 2005 fighter aircraft and Mistral surface-to-air missile system.
“We have discussed in detail the improvement and betterment in our defence ties and joint air and naval exercises,” the prime minister told reporters on his way to Jeddah from Geneva after attending the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) session.
Jamali said, “We agreed to enhance economic, trade and cultural relations and decided to exchange high powered delegations to improve ties in these areas.”
He said, “We have decided, in principle, that high-level delegations will work out the modalities and priorities so that a smooth and swift progress can be made in bilateral relations”.
