Hi xpboy, I use a Nikon D2x and the lens was the AFS-VR 70-200. I was also using a monopod due to the very dull conditions.

Hi xpboy
I have a D70 that I use as my second body (1st D2X) now I don,t know if the menu’s are the same but I don’t think there will be much difference in them. What you could have a look at in your menu in the pencil section is the AF- area mode to see what it is set at. If it is set at anything other than the single area mode that could be your problem as the camera is getting confused what to focus on.This might not be the problem but it might be worth a look. Hope it helps
