Hi all, first i must say thanks to you all for the info and replys! great forum!!
So is it dead? its done its bit? or still dangerous???
Thanks guy,s
LW
ALWAYS assume it is still live. you don’t want it going of in your hands! Best way is to bring it to the police or bomb squad or something in your area. Old munitions become unstable over time and can be VERY dangerous.
Was the cockpit section saved?
middle pics: altimeter?
Isn’t this the ex-CAF one?
Any plans to restore the Zero?
Look on the Vormezelle website

Belgium.
Lurking.

Belgium? Never heard of it overhere. Maybe Vormezeele collection or something?
The Aeroclassics SABENA Convair 440 is indeed an accurate rendition, but I think the SABENA Bristol Superfreighter was in it a slightly lighter shade of blue.
Removed the grey hue. Indeed a light blue
‘We’re still trying to figure out what he meant in that last message!’
“It’s a beautiful aircraft but the nosegear looks like someone just shoved a pole upthere with training wheels” If you understand that better :p
I don’t like the nosegear. Looks so “toy-ish” and ungraceful compared to the rest.
Brussels museum, Belgium?
It is quite reasonable to suggest that during a major service/overhaul, an aircraft would receive different wings, centre section, engines and so on. It certainly happened with the Lancaster during the war, where the cockpit retained the identity, but all else was added to the ‘melting pot’. It also definitely happened with the Chipmunk more recently, where the fuselage retained the identity.
exactly, but here another cockpit section was taken from another aircraft while the real cockpitsection with the identity was right next to it. So it wouldn’t surprise me if we see 2 fury’s with the same serial in the future.
also if you put the two together, the Tu-144 will look like the ugly sister……………………..with a moustache 🙂
There’s a Tu-144 right next to a Concorde in the Hermeskeil museum in Geramny.
The aeroplane was ripped apart when it hit 2 trees in a field, its hardly suprising that major components have had to be changed in its rebuild, as I say, the world is hard enough as it is and now apparently those involded are deceitful criminals, I find this utterly ridculous, how many warbirds do you think would be flying now if major components were not changed during rebuild? By that I am talking about the countless aircraft restored over the years that have been completely reskinned, resparred, new longerons installed, new fuselage frames and wing ribs installed. Many of these aircraft looked pretty complete when rebuild started so most will think that it was a strip down and clean up. Where are the next batch of restorations going to come from, sadly there are very very few totally complete immaculate warbirds sitting in barns waiting to be found, but hey, why bother!!!!!!!!!!!
WG655 IS being rebuild. If what is on the first page is true, this is WG655’s original cockpit section:
The original tail is outside on another fuselage:
So if the real WG655 parts are being restored in the same place as where this one with fake serial came from, I wonder what serial they gonna give the real aircraft when it’s restored. I love the aircraft, it looks great, but it should be given the serial it actually is, not sell it as one it isn’t. That’s just not right. I guess we’re gonna see 2 WG655’s in the air someday.
