I thought I’ll never see a reincarnation of Project 1144:diablo:
Soviet Union was stuck on anti-sub defence. It seems that US are stuck on anti-missile defence. If 5 such ships are built at 5 billion each (and they won’t be cheap in service as well) it may mean that US is ready to sacrifice some of their CVs in exchange for AMD capability.

Whatever you think of the Orlan/Kirov class I have to go on record as calling the class the most aesthetic of all.:cool:

I just like looking at the sleak lines . That LST that is similar( the Ivan Rogov class) is pretty nice looking too .;)

I think it is a difficult situation that such an Air Force lacks a tanker asset

Why can’t they use the A-7’s they have and buy some more retired( A-7’s ) that the USAF was offering not too long ago ( good as spare parts too )as tankers to compliment larger platforms if and when they become available ?

The cost of maintenance may be a problem but HAF already knows how to maintain these types and the battlefield survivability is a plus to counter this 😎

One More Question.

Is Mirage-2000 Airframe a 3rd generation design with 4th generation avionics ,And a F-16’s airframe a 4th generation design with 4th gen avionics.

F-16 is 3rd generation , M-2000 is 3rd generation too (airframes). 4th Generation is Gripen,Eurofighter,Rafale

5th Generation is F-22A/B , F-35

Are your figures in AUD or USD ? Also , the idea of the JSF was that it would be “relatively” cheap . $120 million/fighter (?) is not cheap .Is this the fly-away cost?

Also , I think that downgraded versions of the F-22A/B are almost surely to become available for US costs to go down and also to continue the long standing practice of the US tweaking the military balance around the world .

Whatever Australia decides , the fighter/bomber has to be a long-range and preferably stealthy platform.

the aircraft is simple to small to do damage to USN ship,but still highly effective against oil tanker.

I disagree . If it operated in a night mission in a zig-zag flight path packed with HE ( high explosives ) et. al and in a suicide “martyrdom” mission it could sink an Arleigh Burke class ( for example ) quite easily which is not armoured satisfactorily; and especially in a saturation attack where anti-ship missiles are being fired and that new rocket-torpedo provided by the Russians . Even though the Arleigh Bourke class have a special gun now for terrorist boats ( a gun which hasn’t been tested so far ) . Don’t know how powerful that prop engine is though … :confused:

Perhaps this is its real mission ?

Any thoughts ?

Also would replace the GR4 with the Su-34 (or what ever the platipus is now called).

That platypus is awsome isn’t it ? It reminds me of the F-111 . And I like what the Russians are doing with plasma stealth . Whether it would make the platypus a flying “lightbulb” to enemy radars is another question :confused:

Some backward firing missiles would be ideal too 😀

Yes its the ASTOR I was interested in . Are there equivalent programs on the Continent ? If I remember rightly , there was a program involving France and Germany along with a few others . Has this been cancelled ? Also , which company manufactures the radar in the last case ?

The Embraer platformed is for drug survailance but I thing it could also do standoff battlefield imaging — I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t.But I wonder if it would be as good as ASTOR….

Any observations ?

Albanian-Chinese military Co-operation

3 days ago I heard from ICSS that Albania and PRC are going to re-establish military ties with Pakistan acting as the supplier of cutting edge nuclear technology . Does anyone have any information about the creation of an Islamic nuclear deterrent inside Europe ? What would the EU do in such a situation given that Albania would be a virtual superpower acting on Islamic whims ?

The analyst also suggested that Albanians were already in training in the PRC to jointly fly in an upcoming Chinese space mission . Does anyone have information on the Albanian space program and astronauts/Tikhonauts ?

Any infornation would be appreciated .
