the US has approved a fresh $1b arms handout for pakistan consisting of a few thousand Tow2a missiles and Hawkeye aircraft pkg.

The DSCA handout mentions TOW 2 A (RF-guided) missiles. Does such a missile even exist? I thought only TOW 2B were the RF-guided versions in existence.

3:151 We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve because they ascribe unto Allah partners, for which no warrant hath been revealed.

So Allah refers to himself as “we”?

Allah refers to Himself as ‘We’, if the order would’ve been meant for the Muslims/Momin it’d have very directly said so.

    Kill Christians:

5:73 They surely disbelieve who say: Lo! Allah is the third of three; when there is no God save the One God. If they desist not from so saying a painful doom will fall on those of them who disbelieve.

9:123 O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him).

Kill Christians? Read this verse again and tell me where exactly God orders Muslims to do so? Firstly, you must understand that we strongly believe the words in the Qur’an to be the direct words of God Himself. He says that He will send down a painful doom on those who disbelieve. I don’t know how anyone could misinterpret such a straightforward verse. I could similarly quote a verse from the Bible and say that it sounds terrifying. Take a look at this verse:

“And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made the man.” (Genesis 9:5-6)

“Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.” (Isaiah 13:15-16)

“I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence. (Luke 19:26-27)

People have made the mistake of haphazardly quoting verses from the Qur’an to justify their hatred against an otherwise quite peaceful religion. Before making claims such as “Islam promotes violence”, etc, one should do a little bit of research and use a logical mind to analyze verses from the Qur’an. Even we as Muslims ourselves are not capable of understanding the Qur’an unless we read it with the accompanying commentaries, etc, then how can someone who does not know Arabic, nor the context of the verses, nor the history of the compilation of the Qur’an simply flip through the Qur’an and find a verse that has the word “kill” or “doom” and start to run away with it on the internet?

If you really want to find out what Islam is all about, you need to have a clear judgment, keep your biases aside and seek proper knowledge instead of typing up ‘terror in Islam’, or ‘violence in Islam’ in Google. That’s certain to bring up a thousand similar websites of people who’ve done the same exact thing as you, and have posted it on their websites. If God really wanted Muslims to unite together and assault non-Muslims, then wouldn’t all Muslims be doing just that, just as the crusaders did when the Pope ordered the war against the ‘gentiles’?

Again, for an excellent explanation on the 9:123, one should visit the link that is provided here. How come no one reads through the verses where God warns us (Muslims), against transgression, such as the following:

“..Take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus does He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.” (al-An’am 6:151)

“Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loves not transgressors. And kill them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, kill them. Such is the reward of those who reject faith. But if they cease, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression. The prohibited month, for the prohibited month, and so for all things prohibited, there is the law of equality. If then any one transgresses the prohibition against you, transgress ye likewise against him. But fear Allah, and know that Allah is with those who restrain themselves.” (al-Baqarah 2:190-194)

Hardly surprising considering 9/11 and the way in which British Muslims have launched attacks against Britain, the example is already there. If Muslims werent calling for death to america or carrying out suicide bombing across the world it would not be an issue.

Get yourself a much needed a reality check. If actions of a few hundred thousand extremists out of a billion (repeat the no. after me so that it might ring a bell for you) over Muslims justify such insane reactions from the crowd then what do you expect from the Muslims? Who’ve been on the receiving end of a somewhat similar treatment from the West for years now over a far more massive scale? Are you now going to tell me that West and in particular United States of America has not been trying for decades to control the geography and politics of the Middle East by whatever means necessary, for it’s own gain?

Laws of nature don’t change for you even if you’re the most powerful country on the face of the Earth. Nature is one judge whom you can’t buy :). Hence one shall reap the hatred that one sowed. It’s as simple as that (for both Muslims as well as the Non-Muslims).

Oh and by the way Happy Talibanisation :diablo:

That one religion has a small problem with your theory that it doesn’t have a leadership 😮 . There is no church in Islam. There is no one ruling/governing body that is considered the master of the religion 🙁 . As for what it’s followers are doing, the majority of em (yesh, we’re over a billion now :diablo: ) are pretty much doing nuffin violent.

Now as far as the question of some of it’s followers being the ‘only’ ones who are intolerant of other religions is concerned, here is a small news that appeared on the wires a couple of days back 🙂 .

WASHINGTON: When radio host Jerry Klein suggested that all Muslims in the United States should be identified with a crescent-shape tattoo or a distinctive arm band, the phone lines jammed instantly.

The first caller to the station in Washington said that Klein must be “off his rocker”. The second congratulated him and added: “Not only do you tattoo them in the middle of their forehead but you ship them out of this country…they are here to kill us.”

Another said that tattoos, armbands and other identifying markers such as crescent marks on driver’s licenses, passports and birth certificates did not go far enough. “What good is identifying them?” he asked. “You have to set up encampments like during World War Two with the Japanese and Germans.”

At the end of the one-hour show, rich with arguments on why visual identification of “the threat in our midst” would alleviate the public’s fears, Klein revealed that he had staged a hoax. It drew out reactions that are not uncommon in post-9/11 America.

“I can’t believe any of you are sick enough to have agreed for one second with anything I said,” he told his audience on the AM station 630 WMAL (http://www.wmal.com/), which covers Washington, Northern Virginia and Maryland

“For me to suggest to tattoo marks on people’s bodies, have them wear armbands, put a crescent moon on their driver’s license on their passport or birth certificate is disgusting.

    It’s beyond disgusting.

“Because basically what you just did was show me how the German people allowed what happened to the Jews to happen …We need to separate them, we need to tattoo their arms, we need to make them wear the yellow Star of David, we need to put them in concentration camps, we basically just need to kill them all because they are dangerous.”

The show aired on Nov 26, the Sunday after the Thanksgiving holiday, and Klein said in an interview afterwards he had been surprised by the response.

“The switchboard went from empty to totally jammed within minutes,” said Klein. “There were plenty of callers angry with me, but there were plenty who agreed.”

Those in agreement are not a fringe minority: A Gallup poll this summer of more than 1,000 Americans showed that 39 per cent were in favour of requiring Muslims in the United States, including American citizens, to carry special identification.

Roughly a quarter of those polled said they would not want to live next door to a Muslim and a third thought that Muslims in the United States sympathized with Al Qaeda, the extremist group behind the Sept 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington.

A poll carried out by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an advocacy group, found that for one in three Americans, the word Islam triggers negative connotations such as “war,” “hatred” and “terrorist.” The war in Iraq has contributed to such perceptions.

Klein’s show followed a week of heated discussions on talk radio, including his own, and online forums over an incident on Nov 22 involving six Muslim clerics. They were handcuffed and taken off a US Airways flight after passengers reported “suspicious behaviour” that included praying in the departure gate area.

The clerics, on their way to a meeting of the North American Imams Federation, were detained in a holding cell, questioned by police and FBI agents, and released. Muslim community leaders saw the incident as yet more evidence of anti-Muslim prejudice.Several American Muslims interviewed on the subject of prejudice over the past few weeks said ignorance was at the core of the problem.

“The level of knowledge is very, very low,” said Mohamed Esa, a US Muslim of Arab descent who teaches a course on Islam at McDaniel College in Maryland. “There are 1.3 billion Muslims in the world and some people think they are all terrorists.”

Hossam Ahmed, a retired Air Force Reserve colonel who occasionally leads prayer meetings for the small Muslim congregation at the Pentagon, agreed. “Ignorance is the number one problem. Education is of the essence.”

There are no hard figures on how many Muslims have been subject to harassment or prejudice and community leaders say that ugly incidents can prompt spontaneous expressions of support. Such as the e-mail a Minneapolis woman sent to CAIR after the imams were taken off their flight.

“I would like to help,” the e-mail said. “While I cannot offer plane tickets, I would be happy to drive at least 2 or 3 of them. My car is small, but at least some of our hearts in this land of the free are large.”

And optimists saw signs of change in the Nov 4 election of the first Muslim to the US House of Representatives, which has 435 members.

Democrat Keith Ellison, a 43-year-old African-American lawyer, did not stress his religion during his campaign for a Minnesota seat, but said his victory would “signal to people who are not Muslims that Muslims have a lot to offer to the United States and the improvement of our country.”—Reuters
