Evening all, not quite a trip report hence posted here but a quick insight into my recent Thomson Airways flight:
Date was Dec 4th 2010 and we were flying from Manchester out to Bridgetown Barbados to join P&O MS Ventura for a 15 day cruise round the Caribbean. No choice in airline so to speak but 1x Thomas Cook and the other Thomson, we were on the Thomson flight.
At check in had 3 bags to go in the hold, bags over weight by 3kgs, told to pay £140, had a heated discussion with this pleasant girl at check in, she then snarled at me and told me if I don’t pay then leave the bag here, nice girl!, I was then was told as a special will charge you £70. We were then sent to a stall to pay and other people on our flight were over by 20kgs and were told £340 and then reduced to £70, what a con, mail sent to Thomson regarding this money making scam.
Fligth delayed 4 hours due to??? Well nobody told us why, great start. Finally on-board G-PLJO ex First Choice 767-300 non WL, plane quite roomy but shoddy inside, dirty, broken seats, and seat trays and the food was nasty don’t think one person in our vicinity ate anything, and to cap it off IFE was broke, told to amuse yourself oh and the flight time was 10 hours, boy was this going to be fun. One passenger asked which museum they got the plane from which was quite amusing
Hardly any word from up front, crew were miserable and sorry to say scruffy looking, P&O state complementary drink on the flight “Thomson say not” 2 drinks only. Was a sure relief when the Dunlop’s hit the deck in Bridgetown.
Return same plane same faults, only plus side was 8 hours on the way back to blighty. All in all Thomson did not impress and a far cry from their origins did the same trip last year but with Thomas cook A330, 100% better airline all round.
Regards

Volcanic Ash update
Following the continued eruption of the volcano in Iceland, the ash cloud has now entered UK airspace. As a result, Thomson Airways is likely to experience some disruption to its flying programme today.
We are currently working with the relevant authorities who have advised us that in addition to Belfast which closed earlier this morning, at 13:00 today, Manchester, Doncaster and East Midlands airports are also likely to close.
Customers, whose flights are due to depart on Sunday 16 May, are advised to travel to the airport as planned unless the flight is listed in bold below. Here, they will either be able to check-in as per their original schedule or alternatively if the airport is closed, other arrangements will be made which may involve travelling from another UK airport.
Flights affected 16 May:
Customers due to travel on TOM 314 Belfast to Bodrum at 1520 hrs should note this flight is currently delayed and therefore should avoid travelling to the airport and await further information from our Customer Services Team.
Thomson Airways is doing its very best to ensure we get our customers away on their holidays and will continue to monitor the situation closely. Customers are advised to check here for the latest flight information before travelling to the airport.
Customers currently overseas will be contacted by their Holiday Advisors if their return flights to the UK are impacted by the closures listed above.
Please note that there is no further information currently available at this stage, but for other queries relating to your booking please contact:
Thomson and First Choice shop bookings – contact the travel agent directly.
Portland Holiday bookings – contact our agents on 0844 8710873.
Web bookings – call our dedicated customer helpline team on 0800 009 3833, which will be open daily from 09.00 – 20.00.

(Built with you in Mind!)
Hi Lindy Loo,
These updates have been immensely helpful, thanks for all your efforts. I was delayed in getting from Puerto Plata to England, flight only, due to the volcanic ash and now have a flight tomorrow, God willing.
My query is regarding paying the difference in the price of the ticket. The BBC website (citing EU Regulations) states that passengers should not have to pay the difference if there rebooked flight is more expensive: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8621779.stm
I have queried this with my contact at the flight provider (a call centre) and they say this only applies to scheduled flights, not charters. I am totally happy with this person’s service and believe she is following instructions, but just want to be absolutely sure that I have no way to try to recoup the extra I have paid. I will be flying back here again in a few weeks and the flights are now terrifically expensive so every little helps.I would appreciate anyone’s input on this.
Hi there No worries about the Name 🙂
I can’t really speak on Behalf of other charter airline’s However i can tell you how we operate.
We would of course offer you an alternative flight, where possible. However, if the alternative flight offer is not suitable then a full refund will be given on application, including all fees.
Please note that in the event of a cancellation resulting from a factor outside our control (i.e. bad weather) we will offer a credit towards future travel, rather than a refund.
For this Ash cloud we have Contracted a Thomson Airways Rep in Every airport where a Thomson Airways Flight was suppose to Depart to Offer Passengers that Support they need.
It is those Reps who will Then offer the Passenger the Relevant Option to them.
Our Main aim With this Crisis is to Get back Passengers as Quickly as Possible However some Passengers Choose to Leave and find other Means on there own Grounds, These Passengers will Still be Intitled to A Refund and Credit on Possible Expenses Paid. However we Will Not Refund Passengers for Ferry Costs or Hire car costs Unless Thomson Airways were Aware of the Situation Regarding that Passenger(S) Through the Available Rep.
I hope this Answers Your Question, I do Check Back Everyday and Im sorry if you have had to wait a while for a reply. I will be happy to answer any More Questions you may have if i can.

Rinse the propeller blades. Use a soft sponge to apply the soap and rinse clean. For jet engines the first set of compressor blades visible in the front of the engine should be cleaned in the same manner.
Clean the aircraft engine casing. Use kerosene and a bristle brush to remove grease and other stains from the engine.
Rinse the engine with water. Wash off any dirt particles that may have accumulated while scrubbing the engine.
Hope this Helps
