I don’t think they are, I heard they are struggling to finance such orders, they have recently advertised for 2 dry lease A310’s and 2 A300-600’s for 48 months on their own website!

It would appear they may phase out the DC10’s for more airbus which may ensure they get the odd flight that takes off on time!!
not sure yet, plan to stay there for a year – can’t wait!
cool, where did you fly to? Had the option to go manchester via heathrow with air canada for the same price but.
Ah sorry, 04 November outbound and 11 november inbound
Thanks
Are they going to replace the 767 with another a/c?
Not aiming to be controversial but personally i don’t like it, the 738 looks nicer – just looks like they’ve crammed in an extra few seats and added a few windows. whats the seating capacity? not a patch on the 757 which i presume is its replacement!
I too am going to Gambia on november 4th through MYT but XLA flights, its the 09:15 on a saturday – its probably a 757, the IFE is just the standard tv’s above the aisle. The 757’s are getting on a bit though. Anyone know what the average temps are for november? some sites are saying 22C others 28C. I appreciate its not an aviation request – tommyinyork?
Agreed BA/Virgins a/c are newer therefore fewer delays – when a virgin/ba jumbo goes tech the delays are quite similar 12/13 hours i recall, they don’t pluck a 747 out of thin air!! My point was that in economy the service is very similar, with TCD you get a decent flight time, decent legroom, meals/drinks at no extra cost as you would with a scheduled airline and IFE. What do BA/Virgin offer that justifies charging double the price?? All airlines are bound by guidelines as to what to offer passengers should there be a delay i.e overnight accomodation, meal vouchers etc. TCD’s punctuality has been good with this exception – ive regularly seen BA delays to shorter destinations like france of over 6 hours. If you are paying for an assurance that you wont be delayed then its a complete waste of money as BA’s is relatively poor. I think ive made my point!!
You can – in terms of legroom and general comfort long haul (FCA 33″, TCD 32″, MYT 31″ in winter) they are very comparable in economy and in terms of service i.e. food/drink – these are always relatively similar. The only difference is aircraft utilisation which is higher for charters – flight times are also quite similar.
Travel City Directs punctuality has been good up until now, i would doubt the 744’s they are getting are that new. I personally would rather fly a 747 than a 767 anyday and i would imagine many would agree with me. TCD have been good for the charter industry – more legroom than most/free meals & drinks, far cheaper than ba/virgin.
Think its a 767 depends on loads however, will be either g-sjmc or g-dajc both built 1994. Decent airline nowadays, most punctual out of all the charters enjoy!!
Unfortunately not, all there long haul a/c are up for a refit in the autumn, 31″ seat pitch and seatback tv’s so its not been done yet
Surely the flyjet maintenance team will have given it thorough checks before deciding to acquire it, if not then its their own fault! Doubt its awaiting a refit – it operated some flyjet flights a while back so it must have been kitted out months ago.
yeah the stats are for winter 05/06 – up to and including april this year – kind of obvious though EGNM just a typo!
yeah they were bang on with me also, monarch being bottom is a surprise – about time they bought some newer planes those 757’s are as old as PIDS and RJGR that MYT had last summer.
