I heard that KLM pilots reckoned the Electra handled like a fighter . Rode on them Heathrow-Schiphol and Schiphol-Le Bourget a couple of times..KLM’s ‘Neptunus’ went to Martinair briefly https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/view/1001537
These look like rarer hand made one -offs or small batch sand castings….to get die-casts (mass production) metal moulds have to be made which is precision work and very expensive
And the Northrop N-3PB floatplane supplied to Norway was closer to the mystery plane ( but not enough!)
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:N-3PB_(N-3PB).jpg
Northrop did lower the thrustline and blend the engine cowl to the wing lower surface with the XBT-2 (forerunner of the Dauntless)
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=northrop+xbt2&prmd=mniv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjV47Dn06TXAhWDrxoKHaqABd0Q_AUIFCgD&biw=1280&bih=752#imgrc=4QFLOW2ymgVcjM:
so it was possible with some sheet metal work
The landing gear, flaps and outer wing dihedral break from a continuous centre section suggest Northrop (feature carried through to DC-1, DC-2, DC-3) but this seems to have a slight inverted gull wing attached higher on a fatter fuselage and the outer wing dihedral is a little too much
Local customisation of a Northrop Gamma?
The PA-33 has a touch of Stelio Frati’s Falco about it…maybe just the front end
And the Wombles set to and rebuilt it overnight?
Jagan..Yes, you’re right
John Aeroclub….Thank goodness you uploaded the images direct to the Key forum rather than via Photobucket…. (why did we ever trust them?!!….I call what they’ve done vandalism)….great that the book has reached publication.

Some tantalizing glimpses of neutral Turkish DH-86s and DH-89s but mainly about interned American B-24s in Turkey here https://www.google.com/culturalinstitute/beta/search?q=Turkey%20hart%20preston
Swissair painted at least one each of their DC-2s and DC-3s with red/white ‘neutrality’ bands. DC-2 pic by RalphMetzger/RafaelK on airliners.net and DC-3 from the Swissair Zurich archive

Those LB-30s served with the USAAF with the RAF serials having been diverted from the British production I believe…sorry the link I posted becomes obsolete as more photos are added to the SDASM/flickr site , they’re currently here https://www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/archives/date-posted/page7/ and here’s a sample https://www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/35460118681/sizes/l
Hi Ian…As an offshoot from the Lisbon thread perhaps we should have a photo-rich thread on the Neutral Airlines in WWII ….hopefully avoiding the use of photobucket 3rd party hosting!
