In 1946, wouldn’t there also be DH Vampire, HE 162 and Horten Ho IX to factor?
In skilled hands, I think the ‘162 may have proved rather a handful and imagine a night sky filled filled with “Bremen” equipped Ho IX’s!
Horrido!
I recall hearing of a “decisive victory” being achieved in early ’45 by a battery of Wasserfall missiles (which were certainly tested from Peenemunde) against a daylight raid but cannot provide any sources or evidence of this. It may only be propaganda but who knows?? Late war facts from the German side are often hard to pin down.

Could be wrong here but I think it was the Mauser 27mm as used in Tornado? Might have been mounted in such a way as to see what effect it had on the intake design / air flow for the RB199?

Mmm – Furies!! Sexy little minxes – even though this one seems to have the wrong engine!! Any info on how the scheme will be completed?

APC104, I believe there was a proposal developed from Canberra (EE P12??) which would have served as a high altitude interceptor/loiterer with 2 bloody huge wingtip mounted Red Deans. It was said that nothing flying prior to the late sixties would have bested this beastie in her (somewhat limited) role.
Sadly, remains unbuilt and unflown

Some further googling reveals that trials on land were undertaken for an “Upkeep” attack on the Dortmund Ems canal (weapon unspun) but this is the only reference to the use of these weapons on terra firma – plus you’d imagine these would have taken place with “upkeep” rather than “Highball”

Frank
