Definitely went in during the 90’s and I believe there may have been pictures and possibly a small article in Flypast. Can’t remember the year, sorry.
Earlier today NAM was advised that the Lancaster flypast that was scheduled for Sunday 19th June has changed to the BBMF Dakota; with a comment that PA474 is unlikely to be flying by that date.
Sure I read somewhere that were issues with one or more fuel cells, hence a slight delay in flying
F15 a few years back, flew with a number of the warbirds
Bit of an offbeat suggestion, but have you tried searching for any local model makers or sculptors who may have the facilities to carry out this type of one off casting job. Machine shops will be prohibitive but a keen amateur may be the answer. Hope that this is of some help.
Very good routine from Stephen in the Hawk on Sunday, will he be at legends:)
Blown away by that last picture, sorry
Apologies if already asked but wheres it being moved to?
About 50 metres to the south east
If BBD had come down half a mile to the north instead of where it did, or if the Skyraider had taken out the Spitfire it so nearly did at the same show, would the same people be arguing for the right to watch a show from wherever they like, I think not. I think the use of a little bit of grey matter should tell you that if anything should happen then all hell will break loose, with lawyers jumping through all the hoops they can find to find blame and point the finger.
As had been stated shows probably do lose a lot of revenue from the free loaders but it certainly causes a lot of hassle for the organisers, fact.
Get real folks, it’s really not a case of healthy and safety again! common sense should be telling you not to stand within any display area.
Hurricane or 109 from Canada?
What a shame. Seems these DB engined 109’s are having quite a bit of bad luck.
Did Mark Hannah fly one of these DB engined 109’s at Duxford. I was told he landed with a quit engine once?
Mark did fly one of these and I remember him calling a mayday with a rough running engine, whether it was one and the same, afraid the old brain cells have faded on that one.
Pilot reported smoke in the cockpit and wisely shutdown
The P40 landing h,mm, not a pilot myself, but when viewed from the M11 end, to high and to fast on finals IMHO
CNC water knife cutting is the way to go with 4130 or similar high tensile steels. It produces a nice clean cut and the finished edges need very little work to prepare them for use.
Chris
Abrasive water jet cutting will work, but you may find that the level of abrasive impingement into the cut surface could significantely reduce the strength of a welded joint. However for a simple “rivet” or screwed joint it will provide a relatively clean and burr free face, the nature of the process would ensure that the material is cold throughout the cutting process, removing any risk of distortion
Carried out quite a spirited display over Cranfield shortly before this, gear down final approach and then powered away to it’s transit height. Probably the liveliest I have seen it since its comeback:)
Well I’m a lumberjack and I’m ok, I think
