People you’ll are really going over the top. :p Russia is not in a position to go to war with NATO. The current Russian setup is purely defensive. IT needs an aircraft the size of the PAK-FA for the simple reason that its territory is vast and there is no way it can afford a 5th gen aircraft in countless numbers. Russia is not in the postion to attack NATO. But on the other side if attacked it has the capability to destroy the world on its own :(( Remember that it still has the largest nuke stockpile in the world).

Besides India, the only other country China has a border dispute is tiny Bhutan. Bhutan’s entire military force consists of 8,000 personnel. And an annual military budget of $ 14 million. So far, China hasn’t attack Bhutan. And probably never will. I figure the probability of a war between India and China is smaller than the RCS of the F-22.

Attacking Bhutan is going to war with India as India is tasked with the defence of Bhutan.

    Agreed.

Agree also. The only real criticism I’d have against the PAK FA and the Su-35 is that they both don’t really cater for most export markets, who would need a smaller cheaper single engine aircraft. The most successful ‘exporter’ of the 3 Eurocanards could be considered the Gripen.

Then again, perhaps cheap single engined aircraft will probably be the future preserve of the Chinese, who already have 2 such designs in production.

Hmmmm the FGFA is supposed to be a smaller version of the PAK-FA even though it will seat two and still be twin engined.;)

No rush, there’s only one Borei in the water anyway. They could take a few years to fix the missile and it won’t matter.

They’ve gotta make it near 100% reliable anyway, or it defeats the purposes of the system.

What was the name of the missile that was cancelled in favour of the Bulava?

No its a canister/sub launched Short-Mid range Ballistic missile.

Oh yea its a derivative of the K-15- Sagarika sub launched one. I confused it with the Nirbhay.

Isnt there news that there is dragging of feet on the engine thing again now with the GTRE-Snecma deal approved? There is a big chance that the EJ 0r 404 deal wont go through and the LCA will have to wait for the Kaveri-Snecma engine.Oh well thats the way things work in India.

Now why would the Swede’s go and build a plane to take of from an aircraft carrier. Do they seriously think there are buyers out there? They cant sell to the Chinese. The only potential buyers out there are the Indian’s and the Brazilian’s. The Brazilian’s seem to be going the Rafale way(anyway the Foch isnt go to be around for to long). The Indian’s are looking for aircraft other than the Mig-29k’s but they would more likely go in for the F-35 or the Rafale or a variant of the PAK-FA. What do the Swede’s hope to prove with this plane. Unless they win the Indian MMRCA competition(which would open the doors for carrier capable planes for the Indian navy) there dont have a chance in timbactoo of getting a customer 🙂

They could have produced the engine to if wanted. But the Babus in officialdom decided it was to expensive and there went the chance to obtain the single crystal blade technology. 😡
