    Hi all,

With help from some friends and the FP-forumreaders I do have now details for the pattern left and right, and also the info for the stencils. However still looking for the outlines of the letters/numbers (I do have the size) for the serial and the toppattern of the camo. Who can help ?

RAF-Harvard IIBs went to The Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Norway in the early postwar-years; basically all with the same colourscheme, so pictures from those will help as well.

    Regards,

    Benno

Harvard IIB; serials, how do they look like ?

    Hi again,

As TexanTomcat already wrote, “so that should keep him busy for a while”. I do have the “RAF General Markings 1939-1945” now. There is als a table about the serial-size and that helps a lot. But was there a seperate specification how the letters and digits should look like ?

    Regards,

    Benno

    Hi,

Sorry to hear that your mum passed away. Please contact me when you are ready to do so. Seems as the CTKL-info can be of great help.

    Hi,

Flushing had an airfield in those days (with Me109s). But Flushing was, and is, not in Belgium but in The Netherlands.

    Otto Smik, September 3, 1944

    Hi,

Initial mission for September 3 was escort of Halifaxes bombing Soesterberg airfield (NL). The bombers were able to reach their target although was was heavy FLAK. On the way home a few of the 310-squadron Spitfires, still escorting the Halifaxes, flew overhead Gilze-Rijen airfield (NL) where just a couple of Ju.88’s had landed. Otto and a second Spit, got permission to attack those aircraft, and dove in. On the eastern part of the airfield, near the Molenschotse dijk (stil existing today !) a Do.217M was set on fire. He was hit by heavy 2cm FLAK and had to make a forced landing some 15 kilometers N.W. of Gilze-Rijen, near Prinsenbeek.

No mention of damage of specific other targets at Gilze-Rijen AFB.

    Hi Dutchie,

This one has never been identified so far; except it being one of those recovered from Tunisia by Didier Chable. It was meant to be displayed in front of a restaurant some place in France.

It was (and still is ?) just an empty shell.

    Hi,

The Zero’s were not Spanish Harvards; they were French T-6G Texans.

I heard that the museum is to be closed soon (for a three time periode) to refurbish the building. No details (yet) when this is going to happen.

Where Eagles Dare was shot in Austria, but the “lufwaffe fighters” were former Swiss Air Force Harvard IIBs (sold to the film company on February 26, 1968) and were ex U-311, -315, -317 and -327
