Aeronut is right – no resident RAF Vigilant flying now which is a shame (not on there part, but to the powers that be)…. so a Pitts Special is in its place!
For those of you attending, there will hopefully be a DVD of the show released which, can be pre-booked at the show!
Neil
Am here Albert 😀 Just been very busy with working, the Ab Fayre show work & my Fiancee!!!! 😀 😀
Burger vans etc … have twice as many booked including an Ostrich Burger Van 😮
Seriously despite an increase of about 600% in fees (a struggle with no commercial backing i can tell you) we are getting there as the list proves – ground exhibits include a collection of vintage Fire Engines & we inherited the MG Car Works Rally so should have around 150+ assorted old MGs turning up!!!!!!!!!
Plus the usual stuff….. shaping up nicely.
Yep polished those boots ready for a good kicking (over the hangar of course!!) 😮
See if i can better 2004 then DB – twice over the hangar this time !!!!
Yep my Airday recently at Abingdon certainly was very lucky with the weather……. since the weathers been sh*t!

Propstrike: Quote – Yupp, got it all thanks. Perhaps sometimes humour can be TOO dry!
Na, its me having a brain fade moment 😮 still thats my excuse… good to see you returning – think your one of a Pack of Cubs to arrive all being well (weather permitting).
Need some of that Polish Vodka which will be flowing in bucket loads i expect over the weekend!
Propstrike..
Re runway length, don’t forget as per your A/F briefing sheet which you should have rec’d we are in a new location from now on which offers both the Main 18/36 & secondary 08/26 “hard” runways aswell as the 08/26 & 18/36 Grass runways..
Tho admittedly if 08/26 is in use, you’ll have to decide whether to land on the “hard” stuff or on the Grass Strip as Grass Strip is only 450m & can’t make it any longer due to a bloody bank on the westside
N/S 18/36 Grass strip is 593m so gained abit –
“hard runways” – theres plenty of it!!
Did you get my A/F briefing sheet then? Post abit crap of late – just wondering as we are having a few calls re Stalls & Pilots etc who sent there stuff in over 2 months ago & we aint rec’d anything..
OAGY: Neil P matey, not “NealP” 😀

Just in case some of you cannot open the link above, here it is in text form for our annual ABINGDON FAYRE AIR & COUNTRY SHOW:
Chaps – to inform you that our annual charity show at Abingdon Airfield on Sunday 1 May is well advancing and that a list of Air & Ground attractions will be posted on our updated 2005 page on our website over this weekend:
http://www.abingdonfayre.com
Taken from the list: The 2 hour Flying Display will incorporate the following: (please note at present ‘tbc’)
RAF Jaguar
RAF Hawk
RAF Chinook
RAF Puma (with abseil demo)
RAF Tutor
RN Lynx
Extra 300 (Denny Dobson)
RAF Lancaster (Memorial Flt)
Jet Provost T5A
Piston Provost
tbc – Peter Teichman
Most of the above will be their first public displays.
Static aircraft; I hope for around 75 plus to fly in, the majority of which will arrive after 10am on the day, of which (with the exception of the Jag & Lanc) it is hoped all the other display acts will operate out of Abingdon, plus a smattering of Historic, Aerobatic, Heli, Jet and Light aviation can be viewed – to include…. RAF Merlin, Jet Provost T3, Austers, Harvard, Autogyros, based Grob Vigilants, RV4, Tiger Moths, Hunter T7 (‘Blue Diamonds’), to a Polish Naval PZL M28 Bryza 1R from 30NAS (good friends of ours!!)..
Please note all RAF & RN are ‘tbc’ shortly…
Other attractions include a Crafts area, Vintage Tractors, Motorbikes and Vehicles, Mini Steam Engines, US 19th Century Settlement Village, Brass Band and much more..
Proceeds go to the Douglas House Respite Centre in Oxford..
Public Entry will be from 10am
Propstrike: Not much – as you say the wind was abit sporty… there was a Gazelle from Redhill apparently this morning and a Cherokee this afternoon… the based gliding club flew too!
Dam shame the weather spoilt it again!!
Out of curiosity, what do you regard as ‘dirt cheap’ Neil?
Um in the hundreds or preferbly free!!! 😀
I missed out on a Gypsy Major Engine that was scrapped (ex Chipmunk) a while back that needed to be got rid of for zilch … was a good un as was obviously an ex display item as the casing was cut in areas so you could see the guts.. and a Belfast engine (RR Tyne??)for £300 but there you go…
Binbrook is a shadow of its former self unfortunetly…
The main runway has been dug up in places (may have even gone now) & looked like it was used as a karting strip (this was in 03 by the way), the cross runway has gone, the dispersal has shrunk to half its original size …
The control tower was knocked down quite a while back, and most of the hangars are used for the industrial estate….
Believe the Lightning Associations F6 is still there tho and ground run every so often…
