Bruggen 130 – check your PM’s………. 😀
Cool pics!
Heres a pic at Abingdon of two on the ramp prior to Major Servicing which was undertaken in D Hangar……. you’ll find this image on http://www.abingdonfayre.com (go to ‘RAF Abingdon Tribute & Today’ page).
If i remember rightly, with the exception of sh*tty weather, the Buccs whether it on delivery, air test or outbound they did some cracking low flybys at high speed at Abbo….. the final delivery of the last two Buccs from Maintenance when it ceased in Feb 92 i’ll never forget…. we all “downed tools” to line the taxiway, both blasted off & around the town to say “bye”, back over the airfield in a dirty pass ending in both wazzing along low before a vertical departure…. truly an amazing machine & if i can find those images of the final two Buccs i will post! 😀
Thanks to all re Mick Jennings – have established contact with him re Cockpit collection…. 😀
I did have the owners details about two years ago… but now aint!
I think, if memory serves me rightly, i just contacted the Nottinghamshire County Council & explained what i’d like & they gave me the owners name etc…….simple as that!
Heard he is a reluctant bugger anyway!!
The Jan & Feb VAC meets will be at a certain grass airfield on the outskirts of northern Oxfordshire…. cannot say but you can guess!
As Armwaver states it is VAC members only so join now!
Its a dam shame these bloody irritating little f**k*rs that move into an area whereby they probably know theirs an active airfield go and spoil the fun (& in the case of TW is definetly affecting business to such a degree that the businesses that operate from TW may fold if “trade” does not perk up soonish )…. & of course those NIMBYS with alittle power go & use it to the powers above to stop or limit activities….pathetic really.
If only they (those NIMBYS) could see the dedication & sheer hard graft that VAC put in time & again to make each Fly In a success….. wishful thinking springs to mind!
Seems like the NIMBYS have nothing better to do i expect – guess they will try and get a ban on people mowing their lawns or moan about the sheep bleeting in the adjoining fields next cos of the “noise”!!!!
What is needed is to drive that NIMBY(s) out! – put “diversion” signs from the busy A43 to go right up his back yard!! (he he) – sorry getting carried away now! 😀

Archer – Nice pics & great you posted this as i went there back in 89 whilst at RAF Bruggen for a weeks stay, was a good museum i recall & somewhere i have some pics: distinctly remember those a/c, plus things like a searchlight, tanks, V1 “Doodlebug” , a V2 Rocket & loads of other stuff…
I can reccomend our localised club – the Oxfordshire Aviation Group (OAG).
Ran by Colin Smith (himself a dedicated aviation nut! 😀 ) , he has now a healthy established Group which i think formed 2-3 years ago.
I believe there was according to Colin the TVAS (Thames Valley Aviation Society) & the Upper Heyford Society at one time but both are now extinct……so its hats off to Colin for forming this group as there is as far as he knows no other group(s) in Oxfordshire.
OAG has monthly meetings held normally on the first monday of each month at the Marlborough Club, Didcot and an annual subscription of £15 gives you also a monthly newsletter, and guest speakers which have included over the last year:
1. Presentation by ex Royal Flight aircrew
2. Presentation by 99Sqn aircrew, from Brize Norton
3. Mr Richardson – airfield manager from Popham airfield
4. Talk by TV Police “chopper copper” crew.
Plus Xmas quiz, & he hopes to have a few group visits during 2005.
He also tells me a certain Harrier Test Pilot is on the cards for 05 too!!
Manonthefence has been to a meeting – ask him for his views……..
More info can be gained from Colin who is a member of this forum – just look for OAG! (send him a PM)
Cor wow!!! As you can imagine, very interested in anything Abingdon related – don’t know why
I have quite a few pics now inherited from various paople (thanks Steve Bond, Albert Ross etc) and just inherited another 120 B/W pics from later shows (78, 79, 81)…..
Mark 12 – any chance of a copy of the air – air pics to go on display in our RAF Abingdon stand?
PM if you could sir….
Be nice for Peter to fly it in to my Abingdon show next May then 😀
Peter & Polly Vacher live near here (Sutton Courtney)…
Kemble Hangar Footy – pre-show party Sat eve, Damien B & OAG will know!
Made history by passing ‘the test’ to kick a football clean over a hangar!! 😀
Lows – RIAT, not like it used to be and getting more expensive by the year!
Tho the Super Hornet was cracking, and the informal 3 ship on monday after Waddington of the Belgian F16 & 2 Saab 105 formation was certainly different, as was the B52 beat up on the monday at Leuchars (upon start up called “Fairford Ground” – hmmm long way from their matey!).
All for the small shows ie Sywell – very relaxed and also Turweston VAC fly Ins which need abit of support at the moment.

Whitley_Project – Ok ta , was a stab in the dark with 10 OTU, not sure if any other units from around that era had any Polish aircrew.
