My guess is that the wreck is in Ethiopia, which bought 46 B 17As between 1947 and 1953, and used them until 1968.
Yupp, Ethiopia or Eritrea.
Rumors says that two Saab B 17A of the IEAF were active as late as in 1972?!

Try to get hold of a copy of Flygoperation Balchen – Amerikanska flygningar i Sverige 1944 – 45 by Jan Waernberg. Published by Svensk Flyghistorisk Förening/Swedish Aviation Historical Society 1995.
BTW there is also a PO-2 (Polish built CSS-13) flying in Sweden, SE-XPP. It is based at Eskilstuna/Kjula.
