I have stayed at such a place, at Wellington in Florida, and thought it was very appealing. I think when my chum bought it 10 years ago he got a smart house with a pool ( no hangar ) for about $350 K . prices went up, but have come down again now.

”Sandown and Daedalus (Lee-on-Solent) Airports
Message from Fly BN
Dear All
After 18 months as leaseholders and managers of Sandown Airport, our tenure has now sadly come to an end, effective 31 August 2012. We understand that from that date the airfield will remain open as usual, though the field will be managed by a new management team. No details have yet been published regarding opening times and contact information.
We would like to thank you all for your support and generous custom during our time at Sandown and hope very much that we have taken good care of you during your visits to our field.
The efforts of Pete Dalby and team will now be primarily focussed on Daedalus Airfield at Lee-on-the-Solent, where visitors remain most welcome. In addition to our modest Aeroclub facility at Daedalus, where you can get a cup of tea and free WiFi, we will also be opening up pedestrian access to the LoS area so that visitors can make their way down to the sea front and beaches. No PPR is required for Daedalus, but you are advised to get in touch if arriving on Wednesday pm or at the weekend so that we can advise you about gliding activity.
Please note that Sandown tower will no longer be available via our old telephone number. Details for Daedalus, however, will remain as they were before:

Weather permitting, we look forward to seeing you at Daedalus soon.
Happy landings…”
I got socks for my birthday.
Interesting little film, which also underlines how difficult it is do undertake air-air photography.
I hear they have started polishing it already 😉
Was that contact within the formation ?
Video is indistinct, but seems very close.
Andy,
Your retracted post leaves my response slightly disconnected, but if you just decided to diffuse the issue a bit, I thank you for that.
This troubled year has seen too many losses, some far away, and some , of course, very close to home.

Many thanks , but I already know all about Steve Patterson, his Sea Fury and latterly his L-39. I was, after all, a participant in the same threads as yourself.
Whoever your mate may be, I have every sympathy for the loss he is feeling, having also grieved for friends lost in flying accidents.
I would suggest that my reaction, or public expressions, have zero effect on his mental state or any other circumstances, and perhaps it is your own heightened emotional condition that has prompted a strangely aggressive stance.
Despite 19 previous posts, not one person has apparently spared a thought for the pilot.
Someone who used to contribute much here once upon a time–and he also once owned a L-39 of his own, lost a good mate yesterday.
It might be a few cold statistics to many of you but someone died in a nasty fireball yesterday.
Andy
You alone have not cornered the market in compassion.
For most people here, their concern and regret for the loss of a fellow enthusiast is a given, genuine but often unspoken.
Personally, I have mixed feelings about the clunky ”Blue skies, Mate’ kind of tributes. That aside, I do not feel I need to be told what sentiments I ought to be expressing, and when I should do it.
Looks like a professional free-loader to me.
Not sure he is a quite a Shuttleworth kind of person anyway.
The fellow could certainly use a shave.
Vulcan nice and low heading NW just after 5pm.
Cheers

She did an orbit for the Members Display at White Waltham.
Hardly made a sound, slipped away into the haze like a ghost.
I heard today it was flown in from Sweden on 1/9/12.
Rotten weather and poor viz cannot have helped.
I think the FAA spotlight is going to fall on these civilian jet operators, this being the third L.39 to go down this year.

Not quite up-to-date, as it does not show that K5674 has flown.
Two Hercs ( historic- ish ) ultra low-level (200 feet) over M4 near Castle Combe at 19.15, heading SW.
Duxford Friday 24th August:
Big news today was the inaugural Classic Wings ‘Wing To Wing With A Spitfire’ flight. Aviation and local press were treated to a demo flight (Should be in Cambridge Evening News tonight). Flights will be in a Dragon Rapide alongside the OFMC Spitfire MH434 or P-51D ‘Ferocious Frankie’. Price is £289 for a 15 min flight, or £389 for a 25 min flight which also overflies Cambridge:

They are pitching it as an opportunity for air/air photography, though shooting through perspex will often frustrate.
