Mustang is usually based at the Lambourn strip
Nice vid of the place/aeroplane here.
Maybe you could just say what it is.
109 posts, and back just where we started.
Whoever would have thought it 😉
Quick bump, to save wasted trips.
Rather a lot of stocking-fillers, I feel.
The Breitling Stearman Team are great, but there is a time and a place.
No Skyraiders this year ? :diablo:
more here, of G-EOFS
It’s gonna be just like this 😎
Good post, Mark. -Logical and comprehensive.
Here is a candid account of flying (once) his Elstree warbirds, by Anthony Samuelson.
”Tubby wanted to get his hands on the Irish Spitfires and guessed correctly that I was up for it. I was busy being a film tycoon in those days and did not go across to Dublin. I just handed over the cheque. A deal was done with Hamish Mahadie, sometime Mosquito Ace and flying consultant on the Battle of Britain movie, whereby the three of the five Spitfires that were capable of being made airworthy without too much expense were supplied to the film. Not much money was involved (Mahadie was a role model for every Scotsman ever born when it came to counting the bawbees) but the deal was that the aircraft would be returned to me with new Certificates of Airworthiness.”
Another bust, I am afraid .
”Unfortunately, the forecast was bang on. The clearance slowed down and stalled. The front wriggled and pepped up over London in the afternoon and the other front that had moved north of Old Warden was erratic and started to move south again.
I was advised that there was no or little flying. The only visitor was a Spartan from Little Grandsen. At about 3pm, the flying display was cancelled

Personally, my stamina to engage with this issue is dwindling, get them flying, I say, apart from special cases, like the Sahara P40.
Restorers will still restore, commentators will still comment ( mainly to themselves) , there is no ‘great debate’ that will decide this once and for all, and there never will be.
Do you really want someone else’s ‘clarification’ ? Clearly you hold robust views, but are you inviting other people to tell you that you are mistaken?
Life is too short to ride this particular hamster wheel. In my opinion.
The redoubtable author Arthur Ord Hume worked for Crop Culture, and though senior in years has a very sharp memory.
Worth a try
Didn’t realise it was inverted !
What a year for discoveries, this, the P40, we just need to see a Burmese Spitfire 😉
Brilliant pic from the above link.

Oh dear, the Rain Gods really seem to have it in for Shuttleworth displays 🙁
Looking at the rainfall radar, it should be dry by mid morning, though many potential visitors will decide go/ no go when they first peer out the window.
