A Fondue set, and a Toasted sandwich Maker, plus a map to the nearest car boot sale, so that they can cut out the middleman.

FlyPast was on the shelves last month at Tesco in Amersham.

No sign this month though. Perhaps they all sold out on the first day……

The report confirms that it ‘plummeted’.

It does not actually say that the ‘engine was cutting out’, it ‘blew up in the air’, it ‘nose-dived’ and ‘just missed the Childrens’ Hospital’ but it is pretty safe to assume.

After all the stunts, of course.

As hoped, the engineers have got to the bottom of this very nasty incident.

The cause was a bolt, which was one of a number which hold the front instrument panel in place. It had somehow loosened, backed out, migrated to the rear cockpit, and then found its way into the control linkage.

The really alarming aspect of this is that it is a component you would not include in any pre-flight check, or could probably even see, which makes it very difficult to defend against.

Aerobatics may not by definition be especially dangerous, but they do seem to increase the SCOPE for hazardous occurences. If one never banked beyond 15 degrees, then the chance of this happening would be significantly lower. Thick cushions or parachutes ? Take your pick.

The B25 DVD went off in the post to Robert Sterling last week. Hopefully he has it by now.

Steve, can we see some Halton, especially 1950’s and 60’s?

What about the other 479,000 boxes which were not stolen.

I haven’t collected for the Poppy Appeal, but I do for the RNLI, and my experience is that the majority of people will happily help what they see as a good cause, across all ages.

The RAFA do a pitch outside Tesco’s, and seem to do pretty well.

Probably mentioned on another thread, but worth repeating

I wonder if Longleat is aeroplane friendly? They did after all host the Red Bull event last year.

Also, there are already plenty of lions, so maybe they could budge up a bit and make room for some Tigers!

It is great to see some more Moth activities at Halton which is such a great and timeless little airfield, and nice also that it looks as though there will be a station open day next year.

I had some correspondence with Neville in 83-4 and my impression was that he was not especially dismayed that CC had run its course.

I think he was not unhappy to be able to relinquish his long-running editorial duties, and pass on the toch to FlyPast, which had far more resourses to report and promote the vcintage ‘scene’.

Plenty of the contributors to CC are still around, such as Peter Arnold, Tim Badham, Stuart Howe and many others. I wonder where Malcolm Filmore ( Tiger Times) is now? It was a great little mag, with some really good material in, still worth looking at today.

Paul, you are quite correct that this is a good arena to ask genuine questions, and there is a wealth of experience here, from LAA (PFA) flyers, through warbirds, up to ATPL’s. As a rule, it is pretty supportive and friendly place, and if you hang around for a while, you are quite likely to be offered some flying and some hands-on experience. It is not usually a flame-fest, and egos are generally under control, or as much as they can be in aviation!

However, some ‘ contributors’, especially ones who pop up on a first post and then ask a question which seems verging on the inane, and then add a big ironic grin, are difficult to take seriously, and are probably taking the micky out of us, rather than the other way round. It is not terrible thing to do, but it is mischevious, and invites flippant responces.

What sort of flying are you doing ? Are you anywhere neer Sturgate, or maybe operating out of one of the strips which Lincs seems to have a few of ?
