Blackbushe, a virtual certainty.
Upon arrival in the UK in May 78, the Mitchells flew to Luton for their ‘make up’, then to Bovingdon about 10 days later, for perhaps a couple of weeks, then off to Little Rissington, and then over to Blackbushe, where they languished for maybe a year before dispersing. The only location where a CASA 352 was present was Blackbushe.
Various Mitchells did various shows (Biggin, Duxford, Mildenhall + others) but I believe it was only at the above locations that they were together.
OK Albert, you can now tell us about the time you led three of them to Staverton for fuel- I remember the piece in A.I !
Janie,
No it would not be appropriate or neccessary to contact Lady Tavistock. The Estate, and its numerous events and commercial activities are run as a business, employing full-time staff. Any internet-savvy person could be talking to the right dept after a moments research.
The event has always been under the auspices of the Moth Club, but by invitation from and with the blessing of (now) Lady Tavistock. Woburn park has a long tradition of aviation;- towards the end of the WW2, Short Stirlings were flown in there. Mind you, they were not flown out again!
OK, not quite a film star, but all Tigers are stars to me.
Anyway, ever seen a canopy on a Tiger like this? Quite nifty, in a goldfish bowl kind of way, but if you do not like open-cockpits, maybe the Tiger ain’t for you..
That sounds like a good idea , Max.
Woburn this year is a ‘back-to basics’ event, with no flying display, but unrestriced Moth movements all day. The CAA last year extracted £700 for the privilege of issuing a display licence, so now no more display.
Why do they call it Cancel All Aviation?
Flying A Services, with an alleged facility at Greenham Common (Berkshire ) is said to be owned by the Arnold family. Google does not seem to know of them, but it could be a start.
I can’t see this doing much for GA. Might generate some more jobs for people in Hi Viz jackets, who get a kick out of going ‘airside’.
I would rather have a Moth in a fifteen acre field.
That must be Wolverhampton Inter-Galactic Spaceport. And NOT humble old Halfpenny Green airfield.
Hope the lessons go well Lee. Good to hear of new students starting PPL courses- by all account, the schools need them.
Probably Jack Ruskin’s machine (remember him?)
Company is called Colliers, based Marylebone, London.
Aww Shucks- I feel like an old grump now!
Bl@@dy ancient threads! 2002 for heaven’s sake..
I read about 8 posts before twigging. Its a bit unsettling to come across contributions from Steve Young.
Lets start new ones unless there is a really good reason not to.
Here is a view of the Duxford flightline that most of us do not see.
One of the Sparrows.
I don’t imagine we will hear much from ASML for a day or two. He is probably lying down in a darkened room, waiting for his ears to stop ringing!
Edit that; He must be better, since he wandered over Chesham this afternoon, like a slightly disorientated bee.
This matter has been the subject of at least two court hearings, so I do not think that any party can claim that they have been unable to put forward their case. What is said, or not said on the forums is of little consequence, being no more than ‘chatter in the bazaars’.
All that can be done here is to elicit a general, collective responce, and give us ,the contributors an opportunity to express opinions, and perhaps to a tiny degree affect a wider consciousness.
As has been stated many times now, it is the nature of the punishment which has attracted comment, not the more tangled details of the case itself. I have no doubt that the engineering organisation is aware of some of of the threads running on the forums, and it is probably to their credit that they maintain a dignified silence, especially as it was they who instigated the procedure which has come to such a controversial conclusion.
Bicester to Fenland and back, in a Luton !
Thats what I call an epic. Jolly good show, old fruit.
