A few actions will help with this.

    1. Clean all glazing, or ideally, open windows and shoot un-impeded.
    2. Try to get target to formate down-sun
    3. Most aeroplanes look more pleasing viewed from the front
4 Be sure that pilots are competent to fly in close formation ( most important)

Sad news. What a year this has been.

Did he write an autobiography, or publish any of his stories?

Release looms for this movie, and a clip was recently aired on J Ross’s film prog-

I have to say that this particular sequence looked a bit odd, and was NOT the best example of CGI ever seen. Did not the producers state that the minicams which they were using would obviate the need for much CGI?
As it was, there was one of the Nieuports hurtling about at low level, swerving around a tree in a sort of aerial handbrake turn, much like the model Mosquitos in 633 Sqdn, yanked around on the end of fishing wire.

This does not bode well for the film, if the producers have abandoned any attempt to actually recreate the movement and dynamics of an aeroplane in flight.

Very audible in Chesham, 9 miles away, it rocked the house and set off car alarms all down the street. The first reaction was to suppose a plane had come down, but the morning was so foggy , you could not see a glow in the sky.

Still nice to feel the earth move, early in the morning.

Many thanks Melvyn. Perhaps the Camels should be revived, especially if G-ASOP is deemed to be anything like as valuable as the owner thinks it is.

These are changing times, and the old guard is stepping down. The very last survivors of the first World War are almost gone, and the pilots who were actually trained to fly high performance piston aircraft are fading too. Ray Hanna flew Tempests in squadron service, and has been an inspirational living link to that era.

The shock of Ray’s death will fade over time, but his memory will not be diminished, and his wings were never clipped. He has left the display circuit still at the top of his game, as anyone who watched him fly in 2005 can testify, and for a pilot who was always an utter professional, that is not a bad way to go.

The HP42 would be quite something to see. I have seen the project promoted at numerous events, but do not know if anything has commenced as yet.

A nice sentiment; the transports are not the most glamourous of aircraft, but still have great appeal. In my youth, I used to be potty about Twin Pioneers, of all things!

If you look at Thorney Isand on Multimap,(aerial photos)) it still appears in pretty good nick.

He must have had some qualities of merit, to dominate every news broadcast for the last 72 hours- I just can’t understand what they were.

‘and now, for the latest on Football legend George Best, we go live to the hospital.
Penny, what is the latest news?’

‘ Umm…… he is still in bed………………Back to the studio’
And so on, for days on end.

He may have played a good game of football, but that was 30 years ago, and the only thing he has subsequently done for England is drink. Still, at least he managed to hang on for 24 hour boozing. He has only remained in the public consciousness due to his drunken clowning, the lurid headlines generated, and newspapers sold.

Like any of us, he deserved a private, dignified departure, and sadly, he has been denied it. These days, the only thing the media loves more than a hero is a ‘victim’, and in GB they had a bit of both.
