    Steve.

Actually, the Beech 18 course involves flying through a giant bill-board.
Its a mad mad mad mad course.

That’s all very well, now lets see him top up the oil!

Anyway, it is probably illegal. The handbook is quite clear- Solo from the back seat only. Or is he a standby-passenger?

    Moggy.
Your sources are clearly better than mine, in this case. I was unaware that anything is amiss. Has much been said in the aviation press ? I have not been reading the GA mags much for a little while.

The last article I recall seeing was about the Liberty ( if you will allow that in the Europa camp) and the tone suggested that it was full-steam ahead.

I have flown a couple, both very nice in the air, though the take-off in the mono-wheel was odd, bordering on alarming.

    Hashdef,

Thanks for the pics, looks like it was a nice evening. I wish I had made the effort now.

Such a speedy posting shows true dedication to the cause . Either that, or there is no food in your house!

    Thanks Mark12,

Just because they have no arrestor hook fitted does not make them Furys, I suppose.
I think the cropped rudder actually looks better, but maybe it is just what one becomes used to.

It is an interesting canopy profile on the Havana example. I wonder if they bust the original, and did a bit of a DIY job. Odd that the 2 Cuban Fury’s have such different colour schemes.

    Doesn’t go three times as quick though ! ;- J-3 say , 65mph, PA-18(150hp) 80-85 mph
Mind you, it probably DOES go UP three times as quick. Whatever, they are both brilliant.

What fascinating relics . Remember, the Elvington Halifax reconstruction started from a section not much bigger than those.

    PP Co,

Great picture, but was it really, really close, with the lens back to 30-40 mm? It looks a little unusual. What a/c were you shooting from ? I know there is a Yak at Halton, which are great to shoot from, but very windy with the canopy right back, and quite easy to lose your headset.

Whats the reason? Usually first-class engineering, but poor marketing, under investment, and very little chance of making a profit in a relatively small indiginous market.

The schools will usually buy a cheaper-to-operate Cessna or Piper, easy to maintain, and spares everywhere. Probably only a large organisation like Cabair can afford to buy a fleet of new aircraft, and negotiate a bulk discount.

By the way MDF, there is a Sprite for sale in Popular Flying for £14,000 ono, or are you
hoping to build something yourself. Out of MDF, perhaps !?

Another of the great hopes to appear on the UK light aviation scene, and then …. well, nothing really. See also Glos Airtourer, ARV-2, Trago-Mills SAH-2 ( really good, apparently) Britten Norman Nymph. Still, the Europa is doing pretty well.

MDF, I suggest you try posting on the PFA Board ( or get a friend to, if you are not a member) Might get an answer there.

    Steve,

Give Clacton Aero Club a call. They are turning out more Super Cub pilots than anyone I can think of, and no doubt could send you a check list.

Even better, get down there, and do the ‘Farm strip Special’ , v good value, and great experience.

I think we should start a Support Group for Luton-ites, and arrange merchandising of appropriate items. 1. Orthopedic chairs
    2. Cut price ear-plugs
    3. Robust, easy-clean underwear
    4, Strong Liquour

Must be about time to spend another hour in geo-stationary orbit……

    Skycruiser,

Yeah, me too. Good old BBEA, before it went into Paul Kirkham’s custody. It is down at Kemble now. Richard Nearns and self delivered it about a year ago, but I do not know how active it is.

I bet there are not many Lutons in Hong Kong. Check out the WLAC webcam, and you’ll sometimes see your old mount cluttering up the landscape!

Did it cross nobody’s mind to go and help the guy?? I used to fly a Luton Minor, and in some situations it simply would not turn against the wind, though if there was room you could turn 270 degrees and exit on the heading you wanted. Watch how happy everyone is when you shut down and block the taxiway.

Numerous brakeless, tailskid machine are a handful in tight areas, and pilots will usually be most grateful for a competent wing-walker. Prop swingers who know what they doing are welcome as well.
