Bit higher resolution on Bing Maps but it doesn’t look like the rings are present. Looks like the tarmac was ripped up in that area.

Quite fascinating-some great sleuthing here !
I expect those Barracudas were buried in a shallow pit when no longer needed 🙂
apologies if its been on before , really enjoyed this little story ,
We did discuss it before, but it certain deserves revisiting. The dialogue is understated, but very moving, makes you smile, yet wipe your eye, at the same time.
My admiration for those people is unbounded.
Bodies in the Otter and the DC-10 may never be recovered.
Those links refer to the difficulties of recovery, and the confusion over responsibility, but does not mention funding and costs, which is surely the crux of the matter.
If it is the case that the deceased are left in the crash site as a money saving measure, that is a disgraceful and shameful outcome.
Just had a google and found this from another forum.

” before it was in its present location it spent several years up a pole as a gate guardian at St. Moritz-Samedan airport”
Glad you are back in action, and hope that your hourly expenditure rate now falls dramatically !
Seems same as usual to me !

Are there any airworthy P-51 owners/operators on the forum?
If there are and you would be interested in an exciting opportunity for you and your aircraft in 2013, can you please get in contact with me via PM.
Tks
Martin
So which year are you talking about 2013 or 2014?
How she looked in July.
Thruxton, Hampshire.
Just found this on the web, this website covers the history of Kermit’s Lanc, very interesting.

Really, take the time to check out those picture galleries, some fantastic and rare shots there.
Hi John, and well done for ‘checking in’ !
A bold and challenging proposal, but a fitting tribute to the many RAAF aircrew who served in Lancs.
The airframe is no 1 issue, and it make me think of the Strathallan /Charles Church aircraft, damaged and then seemingly dispersed.
The fuselage was crushed, but I suspect there is the expertise around to fabricate a new-build section.
Funding is the deal-breaker, though any business plan might be able to include a revenue stream from paying passengers, as is seen in Canada.
New Zealand, in their Part 115 Regualtions are encouraging ‘Venture Aviation’ whereby you can now pay for a trip in a P.40 Mustang or whatever.
Australia may not be far behind with a similar policy.
Duplicate thread. First posted on 15/9/13.
Hi FlySigi, sorry your first thread did a bit of a belly-flop, but don’t be put off, without new input the forum gets very stale.
Keep ’em coming !
But for a badly executed low-level loop that would probably have ended up at Old Warden, as did the other Historics from Hawkers, Gloster etc.:(
Was that the last flying Jupiter engine ?
Pleased to hear that she is returning to Old Warden as she is much missed by myself and I am sure by many others.
It is probably fair to say that EXF has never had an easy life in preservation. I seem to remember that her wings got sawn in half during her days at Blackpool and after Tom Storey restored her she was badly damaged when she was hit by a taxying spam can at Redhill.
As a small historical note, the spam can was an runaway Auster.
This thread has loads of background info- enjoy!

Quite a resource there.
Never seen a Tiger Moth with Iron crosses before !
It was at Southend museum for a while also.
