    Sywell Memories

How well I know Sywell. Learnt to fly there in 1973 on Beagle Pups. Stayed as a member of Brooklands and Northamptonshire School flying School for 23 years – and still flying today.

    Cosford’s Lincoln RF398

    My Memories

I as a Engine Mech [at the time] in the RAF, worked on Lincoln RF398 when based at RAF Watton in Norfolk – between 1961 and 1963. No doubt my signature appears in it’s Form 700 several times. When it was delivered to RAF Watton, it still retained its original engine hand priming equipment – in the starboard wheel bay. I rtecall personally undertaking a modification by removing the hand primer and fitted a Plessey electric primer. Neverthetheles, WD398 brings back lots of memories.

If you are interested in it’s RAF service, see the book ‘Lincoln at War 1944 – 1966 – Mike Garbett and Brian Goulding’
