HI THERE NICK B ?? as it happens my father was a cpo in the fleet air arm at the time of simons sircus not only that he was part of the ground crew. HI THERE PAPA LIMA it is part of the cooling system from HURRICANE P3179 flown by dennis noble of 43 sqdrn who was shot down& killed in it on the 30th of august 1940. the remains (including those of the pilot) were excaveted from woodhouse road hove in 1996. if you follow the coolant pipes down each side of the engine down near the supercharger end of the merlin there are 2 of them one either side of the engine its like a junction i do have a picture of a merlin somewhere i will try 2 dig it out 4you cheers peter….
