Did you eyeball the thickness of the material or use a micrometer? Also give me a bit I have to convert your measurement to english. Most aircraft ( Skin ) Aluminum comes in .016, .020, .030, .032, .040, .050 and the you get into the big aircraft .060, .070, .080. and bigger. For Example The skin on a DC-8 is .070 while the skin on a Cessna is .032. Remember when using a micrometer to subtract a couple thousandths for paint and sometimes material thickness might vary a couple thousandths during manufacture. Also measure the pitch in the rivets or the spacing. Do you know your rivit sizes?

I have scrapped alot of Cessna’s and Pipers and it kind of looks like that but. The material looks a little thick in the pictures? What is the materal thickness? Also, it looks like there is a panel in the picture Oblong shaped?

Looking at the rivit heads they are AD rivits. AD rivits are 100 degree countersunk. During WWII they commonly used 80 Degree rivits which these are clearly not. What you have ther is a NACA inlet used for cooling radio air. And with the white paint I would guess the part you have there is fairly modern.

    Warbird Registrations

They really like stand in line people like you yakfan. ?They just keep piling dung on you and just smile while you take it. How much is enough? They are the reason British aviation stinks now and you have to come to America to get a PPL. I could see point over a congested city but otherwise you should be able to fly when, where ever, and type of aircraft you want

    Warbird Registration

I don’t know if you figured it out but the CAA is a bloated bunch of know nothings that do absolutly nothing to further aviation. They should disband a majority of the group

    Ju-87 Stuka

I talked to a U-2 pilot who went to the USSR and seen at least 2 JU-87 wrecks and he said one was really complete.

    wreck Vs Restoration

Of Course! I would take it apart and use the bulkheads as templates to make the tooling to make new ones and then I would have the tooling to make further repair parts for future restorations. I never throw anything away that could be used as a template! It sure is alot easier that making from a blueprint alone! I am just tired of guys the would let wrecks rot as some kind of shrine that really doesn’t mean anything. I’m soory but if the part can be used I’m going to take it.

I would rebuild an old wreck and replace anything to get it flying. Regardless of the precived historic value

When I was working for DHL in Brussels the mechanics hated the Shorts. The sooner they make beer cans out of it the better and save the space in museums for more noteable aircraft
