The freeway you speak of Allen, is the 110. I’m not familiar with any helipad adjacent to it, but there could be. I would think you could land a helicopter at a number of locations/tops of buildings in downtown L.A. I’ll look out for it next time I’m in the neighborhood.
When I was there you could smell it flying over. But It is probably not so if the daries are gone now. One of these days I’ll get out the pictures.
