I love the Pucara. I wish FMA would upgrade it.
let them go and buy their wares from Russia. The U.S. would be best to keep its annual 1.5B in aid.
I have a better chance of becoming an F-16 pilot than Iran getting surplus models from anywhere. Diplomatic relations between Iran and the U.S. currently do not exist.
That old herc looks to be in good shape for its age.
This may seem like an inane question, but why do manufacturers fly new aircraft unpainted or in primer? Presumably, the aircraft is going to get painted anyway. Is it a question of just wanting to see if the aircraft will fly first? I remember pics of F-22A’s being flown with natl. insignia and unit marks over primer.
Wasn’t Oman scheduled to receive some Typhoons? What is the latest with that transaction? Oman is listed on the Eurofighter web-site as an operator, but that’s it. Oh and I love marketing! “With the introduction of the Eurofighter Typhoon, Austria now operate the World’s most advanced fighter aircraft securing and defending their national air space. “. I like the Typhoon as much as anybody but is it really the most advanced fighter out there? How does the F-22A stack up?
Sure. It needs a LASER to catch something going at Mach 6. 🙂
I’d have to say the most impressive demo of aircraft power I have ever seen was the SR-71. That thing took off so fast, I could barely turn my head fast enough to keep up with it.
Maybe they put an instrumentation setup inside of an RS-2U’s frame? Just a thought…
Great series of photos. Thanks for sharing!
Looks like one to me…
I guess I would still be surprised if the sale went through. Presumably there are some Vietnam vets amongst the decision makers in Washington who would find it odd, the sale of U.S. weapons to Vietnam. I would like to see it go through. Are surplus Atlantics available from France/Germany/Italy? Would they be a better fit for Vietnam? I think the C-295MPA is a solid competitor as well.
What is terrible about it? I am having a tough time seeing the alternatives to the P-3, aside from the C-295MPA, but do not think the U.S. will sell to Vietnam no matter how warm the climate has become.
That is the new national insignia.
I would guess the Su-27 family’s maneuverability trickled down, somewhat, into the Su-34. The increased size/weight also may have detracted from that kind of performance. I have wondered why a strike version of the MiG-31 never made it into production.
