I can see the 609 in use as an executive transport.

I like the Q-5. I wish there were a decent model kit available.

Why would you militarize an AW609 (BA609) when there is the V-22? Would it be that much cheaper?

We test drove a Dodge Calibre and found it to be gutless. Brought a Mazda 3 instead.

American cars used to be good when they produced these kind of bruisers:

    Or sex on wheels:

Shame I could only afford a new Mazda 3 (I paid for it in cash after all, could’ve got something better if I wanted more debt).

Great cars. I am more of a truck guy.

But it won’t be fair. How much of Taiwan’s air bases would be left after the initial missile barrage? Taiwan has no AESA AWACs. F-16s, assuming they can take off, would be at a significant disadvantage from the start.

War isn’t fair. One side will always start with the advantage. What does an AESA AWACS do that a traditional one cannot? The E-2T’s be well tasked on that day and be a prime target for PLAAF Flankers.

I can see the FL has the forward-hinged canopy like the PF. That is what lead me to believe it was a PF from the start.

American’s make utter cr*p cars, European ones are by far more better. Does that make me Anti-American? No! Same applies to anywhere else! Get a grip.

People that show the Racist card are generally out of ideas, and touch. You’re one of them!

Hey… I have had domestic (American) cars for decades. I go off-res and buy a VW and it turned out to be a total lemon. 🙂 This has nothing to do with the thread, however. I don’t think Taiwan could stand much of a full-fronted attack from the PRC, not without international help of some sort. The U.S. is not going to war with the PRC. I just don’t see it happening. I would be curious to see the results of some F-16 vs. Flanker engagements.

Not really. There were many loyalists among the colonists. They just lost the war as did the English. Winning made us free, losing would have made us traitors. Taiwan is in a similar boat. Their final battle for independence may never be fought, but it will be a fight by any measure. The RoCAF isn’t just going to surrender or escape to Japan.

You’re caught up on language. That alone doesn’t define a people. The UK and America speak the same language (some folks will disagree, but whatever). Are we one nation?

I would imagine they would fight for their homes and their independence. Not too many people I know would fight solely for their government, there has to be something in it for them. Most folks don’t care who is running the country as long as there is food on the table and the children aren’t starving.

Right. You think they are just going to lay down? I don’t think so. Why would they put so much effort and resources into defense. They developed their own fighter plane (with American assistance). That is pretty significant for a small island nation, whereas most of the big European nations are not even doing that (France, excluded, because they are French). Taking Taiwan will not be a walk in the park. It is possible, but not easy…

They will defend themselves. Taiwan can do that just fine.

UN membership is not a tenet of sovereignty. Besides, the UN couldn’t break-up a food fight.

Voila! They are a country, then! They also mint their own currency. That is a dead giveaway for sovereignty.
