ASW specifically…..something they have sorely lacked.

What is the PLAAF/PLAN using for airborne ASW tasks now?

Never heard of that variant of the Mirage F-1. Could surplus airframes be available from France for this purpose? France just retired some F-1CR/CT types not too long ago. I bet, though, the cost of conversion would exceed second hand Mirage 2000’s or Denel Cheetahs.

I don’t think Argentina has the money to buy new western jets. Second-hand Mirage 2000’s are probably their best choice, aside from a possibly subsidized JF-17 purchase.

+1 on the mention for the Il-102.

I’ve always thought the A-10 had a patched-together look, which made it funny looking.

it is no problem because j20 will do all, fight ground and air targets. stop arguing.

This thread is for discussion, which may include presenting contrary opinions.

    New MiG-31?

I have never seen the pylon arrangement like this on a MiG-31. Could this be new, or even a new wing? Note the new mirror on top of the pilot’s canopy.

    argentina – j10a
    brazil – no chinese
venezuela – j10b to replace f16 and long term j31. only aircraft that can help stop the americans for them
peru – j31 in two decades
    columbia – no chinese
    ecuador – jf17

With all due respect, nothing Venezuela has could stop the Americans. The AMBV could have 100 J-31’s, it won’t stop the inevitable. An oil embargo against the U.S. would go farther in that respect.

I see where everyone i coming from, but could it be that both sides agreed to keeping the matter quiet? I would if I were the Chinese and I am sure the Russians could be persuaded as such. Like I stated earlier, I would wait until I started seeing Tu-22M’s in PLAAF colors before further consideration was given.

    H-6 Can’t Last Forever

China has to do something with its manned bomber force. The H-6 is already long in the tooth, despite new airframes being available. They could only be used in areas where air superiority has been established, to be completely effective. That task itself is already a challenge. The Tu-22 will not operate at supersonic speeds throughout an entire mission, but the capability to get in and out quick is essential. Updated missiles are the key item, if the Tu-22 is the platform to do that, then their acquisition is gravy.

Wikipedia has a rumor that 4 Tu-22 were leased by the Indian Navy, though I have seen no other proof of that.
