Good luck to this new collection.
Do any Army aircraft remain on the base?
Alouette II 76+76 and CH-53G 84+56 were seen stored in June 2005 and don’t seem to have appeared anywhere else.
Andy
Don,
Thanks, good stuff.
I can only guess that reports of 1122/00785 going to Jordan were in error, unless of course this preserved bird has been painted in false markings for some reason.
Andy
No, the letters are no longer related to individual squadrons.
Each aircraft has received a two-letter code which it will retain throughout its life. Should it change base, then the numbers will change to reflect the identity of the base (133 = Base Aerienne 133 = Nancy/Ochey).

The pilot of the Mirage is taking pics for some reason. Maybe he saw the guy filming.
Nic
It is standard procedure during QRA intercepts to take photographs of the intercepted aircraft.

It was indeed 52-7105, the incident took place on 25th November 1957.
20th FBW is quoted as the unit in “US Military Aircraft Mishaps 1950-2004”.

PS Are you the same Tom Docherty that was at Prestwick Mil ATCC c 1985 – so was I
But I heard TT-QAJ is an PC-7,former TT-AAX
That is correct. I believe the missing Su-25 is TT-QAN.

Incidentally, at an aerospace museum or park somewhere in South Korea, is a KF-16 marked “ROKAF 92-000”.

Anyone here know its real serial number and story?
Maybe it’s an 1:1 model or mock-up?
It is a mock up, at the KAI Museum at Sacheon.

It looks to me like the last two letters are also significant. My guesses:

15** Kfir TC.2 SFT1502 (fighter trainer)
16** PT-6 SBT-1602
17** MiG-23UB SFT1701
18** K8 SJT1808 (jet trainer)
2***(Reconnaissance?)
21** Cessna 412 SPR-2101
22** Beech-200 SMR2202 (maritime recce)
3***(transport)
32** Y-12IV SCL-3204 (cargo light)
33** An-32B SCM3304 (cargo medium)
34** C-130K SCH-3402 (cargo heavy)
4***(Helicopter)
41** Bell-212 SUH4102 (utility helicopter)
43** Mi-17 SMH-4309? (medium helicopter)
44** Mi-35P SAH4404 (attack helicopter)
5***(Fighter)
51** F-7BS/GS SFI5102 (fighter interceptor)
52** Kfir C.2 SFM5201 (fighter multi)
53** MiG-27M SFS5304 (fighter strike)
I summarize the regulation of the serial numbers
any correction is welcome :diablo:
This photo appeared as a link in Don Chan’s news item posted on 16 March 2010 in the “South Korea – ROKAF. Photo Achieve” thread.
It is indeed in Korea, Gwangju City to be precise.

TJ,
Yes I have read 28 myself, from outside the base. You can get quite to within about 200 metres of them (sports field to the west).
Unfortunately, they are in a bit of a mess, with a lot of panels missing, which makes identification of the others very difficult. Fading has revealed some USN identities.
Two are ex 26676 and 27732, while another is ex (513)87 – this last machine should be serial 25.
Regards,
Andy
Hello,
Thanks for your answers.
From an other source, one of the two T-6 is n° 28 but I think it will be very difficult to identify which one it is!!!!!!!Chaika12
No, 28 is one of the those in the dump area shown by an X in TJ’s map jpeg. There are indeed 8 T-6s in this area, the 9th aircraft is a T-28.
Around the roundabout, the other two aircraft are a Fouga CM.170 and an MH.1521 Broussard,

The two in the photographs are the two which used to sit on the parade square, close to C-119 862. Both have been repainted since I first saw them in Jan08. One if them is 85 I believe.
Benno, these are the two parked close to the “aero club”.

Without wishing to get into lengthy debates about acquiring aircraft for airshows, the reason why RIAT can’t grab a Spanish F-5 for static is that the Spanish Air Force does not wish to send one, so your question should be put to them.
Two “standard” NF-5Bs from 133 Filo at Konya were at RIAT in 2007.

Tom,
There are certainly no Su-25s at Vasylkiv, that is the home of a MiG-29 unit.
I was under the impression that only Kulbakino has Su-25s these days.
Andy Marden
Phantom Phil,
Are you saying that you have knowledge of XZ364 being complete since 2008?
