Spotted P-51 Mustang ‘Big Beautiful Doll’ circling around Headcorn Village at 11:30 this morning.
Did TFC’s mustang ‘Twilight Tear’ suffer any technical problems? Just caught a bit from another site saying it was broken.
Your vic formation was Maurice Hammond in P51 Mustang ‘Janie’, Peter Teichman in Spit PRXI and Spitfire LTD’s Spitfire MKXVI that took off from Duxford at around 3PM this afternoon for Brian Browns funeral.
Also rather unexpectedly two Apache helicopters passed fairly low over DX at around 3:30 ish.
Im still convinced it is BBMF MKII P7350, as I said before I know it went up at 6:30 ish that day from Shoreham. Also BM597 was definitely on the ground, I remember it had its canopy covered by then. I cant see that P7350 was anywhere near there though looking at the BBMF display listings.
I saw John Romains’ 2 seater Spitfire with a passenger in the back yesterday up at Duxford. Despite the strong wind it went up twice and carried out a couple of very low flyblys on their return. Also the T-28 Fennec was having an engine test and looked to be sporting a new paint job, unless it was another T-28.
Also saw a Spitfire presumably the Kent Spitfire heading into Biggin at 16:40 today, anyone else see it?
I took the Yarmouth to Lymington ferry only a few weeks back. It was a lovely day aswell and its a beautiful location, especially to see a Spitfire display, lucky chap! As for the spit I think it may have been the BBMF MkII Spitfire that took off while I was at Shoreham on saturday at around 6:30- ish, Im sure they said that it was heading that way certainly for a display.
Like many I have just got back from Shoreham, totally shocked. My thoughts are with the pilots family.
Treated to a nice bit of aerobatics bit a Spitfire with invasion stripes. I did think it was the Kent Spitfire but now I’m not so sure as the pictures I’ve seen of it don’t have invasion stripes. Unless it’s had a makeover. 😀

The kent spit is still the same, it was most probably Peter Teichmans’ Hangar 11 owned MKXI or Carilyn Graces’ ML407. These are the only two merlin engined spitfires with invasion stripes I know of.
Is Kennet Aviations’ Skyraider also based at North Weald?
Yeah me too, thanks for the reminder!
A bit late because I couldnt get onto the forum but I saw TFC’s Hellcat up at Duxford on Wednesday which did an air test and a short display. Also the Grace Spitfire ran its engine up a few times.
That wasn’t the Spitfire I saw…
So many Spitfires around today, cant be a bad thing!
This must have been Spitfire MK XVI owned by Spitfire LTD, I was up at Headcorn Aerodrome this afternoon and Cliff Spink displayed this wonderful machine for over ten minutes he left around 3pm. The packard merlin sounds great though!!! I managed to meet Cliff and also have a look inside the cockpit!
I saw the Harvard ‘Carly’ run its engine up a couple of months ago but it didnt fly. Im too am going up to Headcorn tommorow, would be nice if the new Yak 3 flew. I took a trip up to Duxford today, saw a Yak 52 fly but none of the other regulars of the warbird kind, probably due to no airshows actually being held anywhere today.
Does Peter Monk ever fly the Spitfire at all after all it is his, When does he get hold of the Two Seater Spitfire? I just found out what a Kent Spitfire was that the good people of Kent donated money from 1941 to purchase a squadron of Spitfires and that Kent is the only county in England to have paid for an entire RAF squadron.Wonder if we could do that now with some Two seater Typhoons 😀
Regards
James
He must do, the sheer amount of times Ive see it out and about must suggest its not always a display pilot flying it. As for the two seater Im not so sure that it has been sold to Peter Monk, I cant remember who its new owner is though.
