”Classic Wings Dragon Rapide G-AIYR/HG691 was busy today”
Spotted this machine over London (Borough market infact) at I think about 1PM Saturday. Nice to see something a little historic over the capital!
There are 3 Citi7 buses. One goes to Saffron Walden one to Duxford village and one to Duxford War Museum. 😀
Brian
Yeah and it takes for ever and a day to get there via bus. I used to do it until I realised that taking a train to Whittlesford Parkway from Cambridge and then walking to IWM is actually quicker!

There seems to be a new hangar being built at Biggin, I wondered whether this could be the new museum? I read that Peter Monks TA 805 would be incorporated into the new museum in a viewing area. My question really is which hangars are currently housing these elusive Biggin Hill Spitfires as I’ve previously seen TA805 photographed in front of the Rizon hangar (nearest the main road). Can anyone shed any light?

Spitfire at 7:45 AM on wednesday gone, heading into Biggin Hill. TA805? From Duxford perhaps after winter maintenance?
Just witnessed 2 RAF Typhoons circling over Biggin Hill/Orpington area at just after 9PM tonight! Olympics training was taking place from RAF Northolt http://www.uxbridgegazette.co.uk/west-london-news/local-uxbridge-news/2012/01/19/typhoon-jets-to-fly-over-borough-in-olympic-test-113046-30159343/
Get that MK18 back over here!!!!!!
James
Cant forget how long we waited to see that MK 18 restored at DX and then never even see a test flight of it as it was shipped straight out to Jim Beasley!
Pete Kynsey.. what a versatile, unassuming and very talented pilot he is. I will never forget his superb displays in TFC’s Tigercat though.!
Damn I miss that Tigercat!
One that hasn’t been mentioned is Headcorn in Kent. Packed full of history, in particular Battle Of Britain crash remains. Quite a few engines, Merlins. Daimler Benz etc. Very interesting, only open on Sundays.
Shame Ray & Mark & OFMC didnt get mentioned. Good program though & John Sargent really enthusiastic.
Steve.
Agreed, you cant claim to give a history of MH434 without mentioning Ray and Mark Hanna.
It looked and sounded as perfect as ever when it took off from Biggin Hill on Sunday!
Yeah it was but that was after it had a technical issue earlier on Sunday. It taxied to take of but then headed back to the control tower.
Wasn’t the BBMF Dak, just the lanc, hurricane and spitfire
At Biggin today.
Also three hawks.
Which one was it then, it must have passed over Biggin Hill!? It had invasion stripes.
BBMF Dakota has departed Biggin Hill within the last 5 minutes. Just passed over head in Orpington.
Ha! Coincidence, I was at the very same stall yesterday. Indeed some interesting items and well worth a look. I thought I saw a bullet proof canopy front. I maybe wrong. Anyway it must have been you talking to the stall owner.
