I read that BAA were planning to demolish T2 + Queen’s Building and build a new terminal for BMI, Virgin, Lufthansa and Singapore amongst others. They are hoping to have finished building for the 2012 games. Anyone got anymore on this?

    P.s. Queen’s Building = Horrible offices between T1 + T2

Many charter airlines sell cargo space via a third party – e.g. Viking Aviation for FCA, and they only sell ‘belly freight’ if space is available – but they do take freight e.g. to canary islands for example

I went on one in July 2004 – A great flight with a hilarious crew (for all the wrong reasons) – e.g. Them standing on the seats to get into the overhead lockers, liverpudlian one screaming at the person sat next to me for complaining the plane was too cold, spilling food everywhere…
Seats not great but it is a widebody and that does make a nice difference. Where are you flying with them?
I read somewhere they were going to add a premium cabin at the front. See attached pics (sorry for quality of interior shot!!!)

I have to say FCA 757-200 are the worst – high seats and v.v. cramped.

Also I for one would not like to be stuck in an FR 738 for 5 hours, 1 hour is bad enough.

Although I take your point FR 738 are not bad aircraft – most are new inside and although basic, the seats aren’t uncomfortable. After all, they are in the same config as XLA for example – so I don’t really agree with you here.

Yep – possibly a 757 configured with ER fuel tanks fitted, though most likely with a stop over somewhere on route. I think it would be a scheduled operation though, not charter

Neither can I but then TOM from Gatwick-Perth in a 767-300 can hardly be a comfortable flight!

It will be interesting to see how they configure the 747, in terms of Business/Economy as the HKG sector attracts high numbers of business class passengers. Will be good to get some more long-haul into LGW as well.

It’s impossible to give the reg of aircraft to be based at an airport as they will switch around the bases in order to recieve maintenance e..g the BY fleet rotates around Luton for this.
