RAF chipmunk?? looks more modern, bought it on a whim!
flying legends canx and replaced by buried legends
Great news and more importantly a superb and ultimate tribute to their brother.
What a change – the before/after shots show the great job you have down, all on the drive and in the garage!
The spitfire sim looking good as well … Full size spitfire next, you must be moving!
Neil,
Your son must be the envy of all his friends!
I read flypast on the ipad and a few rc mags – great for ease of keeping etc but miss any extras … Rc model ones missing plans etc.
They could be better though, rather than just having the one photo you could bring up more, maybe a video as well, interviews etc.
Pricing seems ok, works for me.
Mike,
My late grandfather worked as a RAF fitter in WWII and worked on spits and I think did a run to Malta on HMS Eagle, after the war he worked at RAE Farnborough and I have a couple of photos of what I think are Bristol aircraft. Have his service books so may dig out his records from the RAF.
My nan was in the wrens and did a stint in Liverpool sorting convoy survivors, served in scotland as well, she has never really talked much about it.
Back in the early/mid 80’s my step mums great grandfather who was in his 90’s pulled out of a box a Luger pistol and his officers pistol from WWI, some rounds as well! They were removed very soon after!
Talking of dieppe …… My old ATC warrant officer as it turns out had been at dieppe and d-day when he was in the Royal Marines. Only found out after he had passed away … Shame as I am sure he would of kept us going for hours with his stories.
Would be nice to see another local show. The costs may prove a stumbling block, was looking forward to the Portsmouth Air Festival this year as the folks down that way but that hit a few issues.
Awful news I am afraid, my thoughts with families and friends.

Good news and hopefully a runner as well, Ex RN airframe handy with the amount of water in the area at the moment!

Had a few people mention today that they had seen 558 over near Harrogate and how quiet she was …… Little do they know! Had my finger crossed for a line closer to Ripon.
Happy as travelled to Duxford on the Saturday.
As for giving routes prior to flights the same would apply as now, if she had to detour how many would be moaning, feeling let down?
Now how about all those who want to track her donate for a transponder so she can be tracked in real time …. it would be better than the tracker app that was a waste of time with idiotic location reports.
Nice selection of pics – liking the tank digital pictures
Yikes! That doped fabric isn’t exactly fire-suppressant is it! 😮
You’d need to be bloody quick-off-the-mark to prevent a disaster. I hope the wing structure itself isn’t badly damaged.
It was fast, I watched the port engine start and then the attempt to fire up the next – the ground crew acted well and at one stage the fire looked like it was out then the whole wing just went up and it took seconds….
TBH I would be operating with some bigger equipment to handle something that goes up that fast and has done before…. Though again it was well handled and the damage contained.
Had a quick look on web for you, there is a picture of him from 1931 from the royal aero club. Have downloaded if want.
The only real info I can see has a Charles Derek Whittingham living in Devon at Shorton Cottage Paignton, Passing away 08 April 1958 at Valleyfield Kirkcolm? This links in with a trip in 1954 on the ship ‘Venus’ with his mother Henrietta.
Do these seem any closer to details you may have?
