Don’t forget that the R.A.F.’s HGV driving school was also based at St Athan.

I spent several weeks based there, terrorising the local population while learning to drive 4 ton Bedford lorries, in 1991.

It was part of my pre Falkland Islands deployment training.

    Regards, Cabbage

I did mine as fast as I could to get out of the place, liked the locat but not the jumped up MT Cpl instructor who went out of way to make himself number one enemy.

Nice looking panel, how and where do you get them apart from eBay? Would like a panel to restore or build but unsure where to start.

As BSG-75 mentions the F14/Zero Dogfights – I like the scene in the ‘Final Countdown’ when the F14’s do a low pass over the small boat and later buzz the zeros.

Reading the article it seems the reason for some of he hardships the victor lads have been facing?

Sad story to read seeing as a bit of communication may of avoided the whole thing…… If no underlying issues were there that is.

Just hope it all gets sorted with a good outcome for all ….. Victor lads top of list 😀

It is a shame about the lightning, in fact more so that any real post mid 60’s military aircraft are flying in private hands. You just have to look at the long list withdrawn from RAF/RN service in that time ….. Not many types are still going.

The groups making these aircraft live all be it ground taxis are the only way may see our recent history in the future ….. Even then most are kept out in the open.

In UK or course …. Now the US a different story!

I presume you are referring to a colour cast? If so, what a rude manner in which to put your criticism across, one that could well stop someone posting up in future – and when we’re talking about air-to-air shots of a Spitfire I severley hope that is not the case!

I tend to deteste a green colour cast, and often go too much towards the magenta in an effort to escape them – thats just my personal preference – and to me this set looks very good, maybe only benifiting from a slight move towards the magenta.

You are one incredibly lucky man Mr.Laker and I thoroughly enjoyed the set!

    Cheers,
    Huw:)

Green with envy I would think rather than being about photo…. I know I am.

    A very good set.

I think the lightning was in the ‘indoor’ parade hanger? Canberra was outside in my time with the vampire on the main site as you came through from the domestic.

    TonyT,

I remember the trips well, working as the stacker on 72Sqn used to call people out from all over but remember Odiham and Benson people coming over more often than not.

AOG stickers were used alongside state codes as well…… Bringing back the days.
