Hi XM 692,
The book is available online at http://www.saairforce.co.za/the-airforce/aircraft/60/shackleton-mr-3 just click on shop.
I think you can try Midland counties Books as well…..
Due to limited run, no stock by MCP, but no matter, i’ve just ordered it (and the 1722 DVD) from the shop.
Great stuff, thanks ![]()
.
wow great pic’s.
Any details of the book please ?
.
Interesting…. but can anybody elaborate where it came from… etc, etc ?
.
I think i have some spares that would help.
One of my Lancs was missing its upper wing panels, and as Tamiya dont supply individual parts i had to order the whole sprues. From memory i think there’s a prop on each. I’ll check & let you know….

The museums supplement in the latest issue contains many errors and has to be the worst example of paste & click journalism i’ve seen in recent times.
In fact i’m certain they didn’t even refer to their own editors ‘Wrecks & Relics’, certainly not the current issue and probably not the one before either (and it’s only published once every two years….!!!!). Aside from the example above, Gnat XM692 hasn’t been at East Tilbury for nearly two years now.![]()

There was this at the FAAM…..
That looks interesting. What’s it’s background Andy ?
.
Isn’t the Phantom cockpit which was at RAF Coltishall at the City of Norwich Aviation Museum?
Seem to remember that this was complete.
A. Yes it is (to both questions)
.
Thank you very much Barnstormer.
How do i acquire a high res’ copy of that photo please ?
.
Dont shoot the messenger – I just copied the link from Demobbed which says White Waltham 😮
Jon
DeMobbed and yourself are correct Jon, it’s at White Waltham. As Nigel said, it’s merely an old photo taken when at Membury.
.
Anything on Fouga MT-23 please ?
.
Did that chap ever have a Scimitar in his yard?
No.

Simonitz used to do a cellulose satin matt black spray paint which was a perfect match for original RAF panels from the mid to late 40’s. I did all of the Hornet panels in this. It provides the depth of black required, plus a ready made patina, that only usually comes with age. Unfortunately cellulose has now been superseded by acrylic, and the formulation of this gives a slightly different shade of black.
Also, I have found the matt black was too flat and collected scuffs and dirt too quickly, and satin black was too glossy.
Someone call ?
What’s the nature of your query DC ?
I have nothing to do with acrylics…. never have… never will.

I am currently looking for a Canberra Cockpit Section, in any condition, as a project for restoration. Transporting and storage are not an issue, if anything this would be on the small side, compared to some of my previous projects.
The question is where to go and who to ask?
How about this…….
