The “Swiss” manual is not at all as accurate as it is cracked up to be and I doubt that the Haynes Tiger Moth ‘manual’ is anything what you might imagine if you are only familiar with their range of car manuals. If you bought their Spitfire and Lancaster ‘workshop manuals’, and presumably the one for Apollo 11, and you have a fireside picture book, that is all. I doubt that the Tiger Moth book is any different. I do suggest that you join the Moth Club, and find out just how hard it is to find a Tiger Moth restoration project and just how expensive it is to restore one properly.

Agreed, but it’s still an interesting insight.

As i’m unsure as to this original postee’s (Melv ?) actual requirements or intentions are, the Haynes book, Swiss manual and of course Stuart McKay’s book should make a good fireside read.

The latter two were ‘helpful’ with my recent project at least.

Oh, the 146 throttle box. I have to say that was the most exquisite piece of engineering I saw in 35 years of working in the aviation industry. Pic please?

    Bri 🙂

Bruce do you want it ? It’s getting in my way, i only need the dzus rail off it. It’s from G-JEAT.

    Here you go….

Anything at all relating to the cockpit area of a B-26K.

Unfortunately due to export permits etc required for getting stuff shipped across the pond, i doubt i’ll be getting anything bigger than what will fit in an airmail envelope.

    Invader ‘657

Timely question that i’d like some answers also please. The Invader is covered in pockets of corrosion small, large & huge and the ally’ is delaminating.

The underside is especially bad having been sat outdoors in water & vegetation for 20+ years. Blasting it isn’t an option due to the size, what else can i do ?

Not really, if you knew the situation behind the TFC decision you’d understand. In fact you’d probably be quite shocked.

Well…. what can i say…. i’ve seen more airborne metal in these photo’s than the whole actual airsho.

One kit trader, no book traders, usual overpriced food, and i can count the fixed wing aircraft that got airborne on one hand 😮

    In a word… CRAP

    Many thanks for the leads.

To answer the Prune forumite, the leg cannot be repaired any further. Someone has previously used normal welding equipment which has pretty much burnt away most of the original surrounding metal, and now the weld repair itself has finally given up.

Is there a cheaper alternative to asking Everett & Son ?

The Aeroflight website lists AE107 Air Enthusiast, September/October 2003 as having a 3-view as well. Please can you look for this too?

    Cheers,

    Justin

Indeed it does, but it’s wrong. The 3-view is of a slip-wing Hurricane and it isn’t very good either, a drunken 3 year old could do better !!
