Can anybody explain how or why some poster have a “Send private message” in the block to the left of the message see Aircraft Clock’s message three above, and others don’t, eg; Robert Fraser’s message two above? Or mine I suppose. How can we enable private messaging?

Perhaps if ground power were applied or the engine(s) run then the loose cables might short circuit to the airframe.

Whilst I agree that the forum has gone very downhill to almost nothing, what is the alternative? The airshows ‘aviation waffle’ forum that I had hoped would replace this one does not seem to have met the promise. Key Aero forum  is poor but it is here, working (sort of) and free. As pointed out by others printed media is not doing well, maybe FlyPast is doomed but in the meantime is better than nothing. There is little point in continuing to knock it, so can we just continue to use it and encourage rather than disparage.  Where are the free forums that we can migrate to.

There have been quite a few threads on related topics, try searching for thread 113073 “Compasses and Alcohol”.

When I joined up (1962) all ground equipment was painted in a light blue, universally known (in the RAF) as “Ground Equipment Blue” as opposed to cars, coaches etc which were MT Blue a darker greyer shade of blue.  So, Post War, but later it was all painted yellow to cut down on accidents. And shortly thereafter painted dark green for camo reasons, as indeed GE had probably been during the war. 

When I get a PM I am notified by the “You have 1 unread message” in the My Account block, but even when I’ve read it the message stays. Is there any fix or way of cancelling the message, please?
