My manual (Viscount 700) does not state if all Viscounts carried radio operators, and I do not know myself, but here are a few more extracts which might assist. The opening “Accomodation” opening sentence statement. And the radio racks just behind the crew, forming the barrier between crew and passengers.

Surely these are “cradles” for manhandling drop tanks.
I never had any connection with the HPT or the GT, I tried to stay away from the personalities and politics, however I could, nor cannot now, see any reason for the manipulation, unfriendliness and minor rule changes which they imposed upon aviation enthusiasts, aircraft restorers and indeed to a lesser extent the bus enthusiasts. All of whom contributed by way of rent to the income of the trust. The scenario postulated by Anon seems to fit the facts as far as I can see, so I reckon he’s quite correct in sizing up GT’s plot.
It’s all such a shame and waste of what was a potential good aviation themed site that would have been an attraction of benefit to the local area.
