FlyingBlind,
Yes it would seem that your “repro” regulator is probably a type A, that has been faked up with a new label.

It seems the type B and D did not have quantity gauges.

Mk.VIII Ref 6A/102, Mk.VIIIA 6A/124, Mk.VIIIB 6A/476, Mk.VIIIC 6A/513, Mk.VIIID 6A/525
But the one shown above, like yours, appears to be a replica and perhaps suspect as to its accuracy. I suspect the VIIIB and VIIID shouldn’t have the right hand “Contents” gauge.

You are right there evidently was a JB4 near the port wingtip. But concerned with the wiring for the lights, not the compass system. So my thoughts on RAF DRC or an RCAF American? compass system are irrelevant. Sorry about that.

The wiring for the RAF Lancs shows no sign of a compass detector in the port wingtip, only nav and recognition lights and their associated terminal blocks but no Junction Boxes. Likewise for the Landing lights. The colour of item 109 may not indicate anything to do with lower wing surface since most electrical boxes were black anyway.

The LH diagram, manual extract (Fig 18) shows the remote compass transmitter of the RCAF Lancaster Mk X. I think its possible wartime Lancs will not have had that system fitted but RAF aircraft had the old “Distant Reading Compass” (DRC) system the Master Unit for which hung in the rear fuselage.
Me too, I’d been on the lookout for 5X for ages.
AP 113D-1825-1 “Plessey Standard Breeze Connectors” – Does anyone have a better copy than my scan of a poor photocopy dated Dec 67, please? AP4343C Vol 1 Sect 5 Chapter 1 circa June 56 also has info and illustrations.
According to the aircraft parts breakdown Vol 3 for the JP Mk3, 3A (and Mk4) the main wheels are part number AH52519 and it refers to AP4515C Vol3 part 1 Chapter 5B for spares breakdown. But I don’t have that book, or the overhaul AP!
Thank you, AM, a really good Christmas present!
SignalX see new PM
Many Thanks Air Ministry
Yes, please.
Not sure that this is of much help:- Edit; Sorry the attached pages went in out of order!
