Thanks Mark 12, did not even notice the wrong way round fin flash!……come to think of it, fin flashes were not used with “B” type roundels.
Some more…………
Just came across your request. Here is a page from “SQUADRONS of the SOUTH AFRICAN AIR FORCE by Steven McLean”
Thunder City Buc.
These shots were taken by my brother Frank du Plessis at last year’s AAD Airshow in Cape Town.
He was lucky enough to get a ride in a USAF C130 that acted as a photo ship for the event.
As you most probabily know, Mike Beachy Head operates Buccaneers, Lightnings and Hunters out of Thunder City, AND all of these were in action at the airshow!

Shack Book
Hi XM 692,
The book is available online at http://www.saairforce.co.za/the-airforce/aircraft/60/shackleton-mr-3 just click on shop.
I think you can try Midland counties Books as well.
Here is the front cover.
Hope you get one, it is really worth it.
Cheers.
Here is my contribution. Two wartime shots, and a Duxford pic. taken in 1956.

Synchronised startup
Excellent photos thanks for sharing! I wonder if they did a synchronised startup?
Peter, I can assure you they did a Sync. startup.Apart from the tremendous noise, the smell and vibrations on the tarmac sent shivers through my whole body! …….surely something any aircraft nut should experience at least once before they die!
Have a nice workweek,
Etienne.
Age Restriction……Lightnings
Hi there Sailor;………Had a quick glance at Thundercity’s site at http://www.thundercity.com/tc.main.htm and could not see any age restriction.
If Virgin Branson could do it, you can as well!! Just keep those POUNDS
handy.
Cheers!,
Etienne.
