just just just received A5…seems relatively good…though they could provide a better manual for it
IB uses the A343 into UIO… Economy class is a 2-4-2 layout…but as usual, Iberia seats leave a lot to be desired. Also, you might want to take a book with you or something, because there is no chance of private IFE unless u fly in Business or First…
I have flown with IB several times, and although their European product was reasonably good (not great, but better than decent), their Intercontinental product can range from passable to terrible.
My last trips with them were GVA-MAD-EZE-MAD-GVA.
the GVA-MAD-GVA legs were ok (except for the fact that in the MAD-GVA leg, they changed our gate 4 times AFTER the scheduled departure time…and THEN bussed us out to the maintenance area…hence we were about 2 hours late into GVA).
Also, their “ergonomic seats” are….well…. let me put it this way: they make “ergonomic” synonymous with “torture” :p no, seriously speaking, the seats were very uncomfortable, especially on a 13 hour flight… other than that, just watch out when landing back at MAD on the A340…they tend to bounce them off the ground a few times before they decide that it’s time to settle them down:D
nice schemes…prefer the second one…though as Matt said, maybe a bit of white on the tail?
great pics graham… worth freezing for 😉

Bummer…sounds like you could use a holiday from that horrible working week in Gambia 😉 Maybe a swimming pool back home coupled with our lovely English weather would REALLY relax you after all of this :p
great pictures….try to keep them coming 🙂
EGNM: True enough, and that’s the way I would do do it. However, the SWISS management has a weird way of doing things. For example, while ZRH is a bigger airport than GVA or BSL (hence maybe a good idea as a hub), ZRH lading charges are more than twice those of GVA and 150% higher than BSLs.
Also, under the original SWISS business model, it was supposed to be a “26/26” fleet, with 26 ex-Swissair and ex-Crossair models. SWISSs current fleet stands at 81 aircraft.
SWISS original model also called for a level of service to rival those of (for example) SIA. And now they’re charging you for anything you eat/drink aboard European flights, having made the 180 degree turn towards a low-cost Euro formula. The truth is, the management don’t know what they’re doing, and oneworld won’t really help much (in fact, it’s actually made things worse in a sense)
actually, Im wondering if the jetmagic planes aren’t amongst that group of ERJs…
apparently the reasoning behind selling the ERJs isn’t so much that they’re bad airplanes. It’s more to do with the fact that SWISS need money and downsizing. For the new(ish) ERJs, they can get a fairly good amount of money…the only other regionals that they have, the Saab 2000s and ARJs would bring them far less money…
seriously, u gotta be joking……..
dammit….i want a 777 for my trip…..just ONE LEG….the return can be on the el-crapo 744…but no, im booked on the 744 BOTH ways………anyone know the chances of them changing this? (as they do in some flights)
hmm….now that I think about it, I have to go and find myself a nice spot here in SOU… Since my old camera only had a 3X Zoom, I never really thought of trying to shoot here in the year and a half that I’ve been studying here… anyone know any good spots around here?
I bought myself an Olympus C750 just before the XMas break… very good camera, and the 10X optical zoom isnt HALF bad 😉 will try fiddling about with the contrast and brightness.
and finally, as i was ready to leave, this airplane (named Sunburst) seemed like just what I would’ve killed for that day…a few rays of sun…probably one of the few shots that truly went the way i wanted it to
just watching this baby land made withstanding the 15 kt wind worth it
and as the highlight of the day arrived, we could see the terrible weather was not about to get any better
i LOVE A300s…just something about them that makes them feel…BIG 😉
