i guess im the only one that isnt really optimistic…. i just joined the LX travelclub a few months back, and i thought id join BAs so i could have my oneworld miles as well as star…oh well, guess i’ll have to join a star one….
anyways, on a more serious note, this is all well and good except for one thing: how do oneworld and SWISS expect to keep ZRH alive if theyre due to get cut down by the germans in mid october?
after all the swiss gov’t tried to lobby the germans into cutting SWISS some slack, and the germans flatly said no, and that they weren’t even interested in talking about it…
funnily enough, the germans had delayed the overflight restrictions until october (or until it was thought that SWISSs negotiations with LH would end, with a prospect of delaying these restrictions for a while more) , and as soon as SWISS decided to go oneworld, they suddenly decided that theyd like their laws to come into effect soon….
point: maybe SWISS just committed suicide by joining oneworld

if u have an (airband)scanner, you cna simply tune in to your local ACARS frequency, connect it to your sound card with a simple audio cable, and download from a host of different programs…
one of the best ones is AirNav ACARS decoder, which gives u 30 free day’s worth of trying it oput before u buy it (im still in this 30 day period)… couple it with posfix and AirNav suite, and ull get some OK results
ok…….wys answered it better than i could…;)

Smart BA! I wouldn’t fly swiss, not even for free. I wouldnt ly it because it came from Swissair, and swissair made sabena go bankrupt. If I would speak better english, i would explain why. I read three books about it, and sabena had a lot of commitments (dictionnary says that its noit the good word i guess) by swissair. The made them buy 34 airbusses when the personnell wanted to add some ng 737’s to the 737 ng fleet. That would have saved sabena for many years.
im sorry, but if u have never flown swiss, u really shouldnt talk…it is a wonderful airline, and it would truly be a shame to see it go…
however, im sure u dont believe that sabena’s demise came from the fact that in their 65(or was it 75??) year history, they only had ONE non-loss-making year….
Sabena was a mess before SR stepped into it, and that proved to be on of Swissair’s biggest mistakes which would eventually lead to bankruptcy…
sorry, but when making statements, think about them first 🙂
hey jeanske….
i think it has more to do with the russian airliners being built to operate from unpaved airstrips… but maybe someone else can enlighten us…
that post might raise a little hell with the spanish forum members…..but im willing to back it up 😉
hmm…i guess it’s sad cause i used to see them a lot when i lived in Venezuela…..i even flew on one (maybe even the same one?) on a CCS-SJO….
Viasa was a relatively good airline until IBERIA bought it……and did some dirty things with it, as they did to Aerolineas Argentinas
one other thing…..anyone notice all the websites that went off with the SOBIG virus this past week….now imagine that happening with Air traffic control
lol….i beg to differ on spain being a gastronomic paradise……theres just something a little on the heavy side about most spanish food i know……tortilla d patatas, empanada gallega, etc are all quite………..heavy…..
but i do agree in that some airports only have prepacked crap in spain….take Barajas as a good example….
oops……T4 i mean…..whatever, u know, the one where KLM, concorde, and a lot of BAs longhauls take off from……
that’s the good thing about AMS (for example)…..ONE terminal

I disagree Michael….
T5 has a McDs after security…..and other stuff i cant remember
oh comet, quiet down and get back in the kitchen! :p
no, seriously though, at GVA we actually get a fair deal of women pilots or f/os on the airband scanners, which is quite nice…..
wow……wys really seems to like them :p
Varig are getting a new colour scheme??? didnt they just change to this one about 4 years ago???
i haven’t hear anything about SWISSs MD11s going to RG, but it wouldnt surprise me….
