RE: best airline company to go to los angeles

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-09-02 AT 10:52 PM (GMT)]Being in LAX, I see Virgin being really popular to locals going to LHR and back.

Scandinavian is also good on a 767-300ER (about 2230 USD) and has one stop, Toronto Pearson (YYZ). Flight nos. are SK3871 & SK6547.

    C’mon A330Crazy,

Does Flight Simulator 2002 look that good? Wow!!

It is definitely FS2002 but the clouds may have been grafted later with Photoshop. Good Work though!

    Heh Heh,

I agree with the doubters…Some nice handiwork with photoshop was accomplished. Aircraft was superimposed on background.

    very un-natural looking shots.

Funny thing is that after the ERJ 170, EMBRAER is going ahead with the ERJ 195 first (108~110 seats). Their site says that they cut metal for it last month.

When Bhoy mentioned the CRJ or the ERJ 190, I remembered my chance encounter last year riding on an Embraer 120 Brasilia turboprop (Seattle to Portland). The thing was shaking like a leaf when taxiing down the runway. Is that a ‘high-cycle’ abuse after-effect common of these birds, of Embraer or of all little commuter turboprops?

I recall a visit to the Seattle Aviation Museum (Boeing Field south of downtown) about a year ago where the chief B737-100 test pilot was speaking to a small audience (the name escapes me but naturally he’s in his 80’s now). The museum arranges these seminars from time to time.

He had a small slide and movie show wherein he demonstrated the B737 taking off from a dirt field and several other insane ‘you can’t do that with a passenger jet’ tricks !!

Well I’ve talked to pilots about the A319/320/321 vis-a-vis the B73X and they say that although the Airbus is a newer design, the B73X is a much more robust airplane. Little things in the cockpit tend to breakdown in an Airbus, like instrumentations, electric stuff etc.

Don’t know if there’s any truth to these allegations…

I agree Kabir. 737 it is. Just looking at how long Indian Airlines B737-200’s have survived is testimony enough.

    Pembo,

    Could you elaborate a bit…

Meaning Noise, Vibration were reduced as well as riding out air-pockets compared to the B-744?

I’ve flown lots of times on the S’pore-Narita/Taipei-LAX legs and these legs will probably not see a B-772 or B-773 anytime soon.

RE: The BAe ATP – This might just amuse you!

Sorry to add that Biman bangladesh got stuck with two and even after two years of rock-bottom fire-sale offers hasn’t been able to offload these as of yet.

In the ATP’s defense however — they are fairly solid aircraft to fly but even after mods — weren’t suited to turboprop conversion. Flying one is akin to driving a humongous cadillac or a barge — you know you ARE going when you are (noisily) — but stopping or directional maneuvers require significant planning!

    RE: Biman to lease 777’s

I’ve never found their airplanes/engines to be unsafe and yes I’m a bangladeshi person residing overseas. No Large crashes involving DC-10’s definitely. Skills of Pilots are better than most western carriers I’d say. Now as far as punctuality that’s another story but things are improving slowly.

The govt. has been trying to privatize the airline for three years but is facing opposition from the unions.
