Spitfire bits
The Hook affair is for holding the battery to the tray in the rear of the aircraft. The hook might have an individual part number I think of 229 however the drawing I have is not the best quality to read the part numbers.
351 indicates MkVII and 38 Indicates Engine cowl. As to which part number 67 refers to cannot help you with that.
Are there no historical logs from the sqn you can access. When I was looking for info from the Sqn I was in 442 Sqn I asked our archieve section in Ottawa, Canada for the Microfilm of the Sqn logs and records and there was lots of info in there on aircraft/pilots and Sqn ops.
As time marches on there are fewer and fewer of these fine upstanding individuals. My heartfelt gratitude and those of my parents who were in Occupied Holland that they came when they did. My condolences to the family.
To me it looks like even in the original photo there was coverup as well.
Spitfire canopy
I’m no expert but when I look at the photo’s I’m not sure that’s even a real authentic Spitfire Canopy It just dosen’t look right.

Mystery Hatch
Since it is felt that it belongs to a Mossie and was found in Canada near remains of possible Mossie I wonder if it could have been a Spartan Air Photo bird and then this cover may have been a filler for the Camera opening when not in use. Any way just a guess based on what has been said and shown so far.

Using a translation program it looks like it talks about Halifax as you mentioned crewed by 5 Canadians and 2 British that crashed in Oak Forest. Parts have been recovered and they will hold a press conference next week in the Forest to detail more information as to what this group will do. It sounds like they intend to recover as much as they can. This is a very basic translation.
hurricane
I saw this one last November in Fort Collins. The workmanship was great. Kudos to Ray and his team on this. And yes this aircraft did come from the East coast of Canada. I wish the new owner many years of enjoyment flying her.
