    Inhibiting

AC-50 is available in Canada. We had a containor of it at our Spitfire hangar. To be honest not sure where it came from however talk to your local AME’s where you are Peter and I am sure they can point you where to purchase it.

    Peter Monk’s Spitfire

Am I missing something here. The wreckage photo at the beginning of this thread has what appears to me the firewall for a Griffon engine with the forward slant of the firewall above frame 5. Yet Peter’s is a MkIX I believe?

Unfortunately even though Motorworks list the book as available it is not available once you place the order. I tried that one already. as to the other site when i delved into it further earlier on they also reported as none available. However thanks for looking i do appreciate it.

    spitfire pulleys

Bruce: Thanks for the info will try and trace down this KLNJ3/8 pulley do you perchance have a company name that produced these?

Mark 12: Thanks for the info as well. It all helps to restore a lovely aircraft.

Just to clarify the bearings are for the larger control cable pulleys in the tail mounted on Frame 20 and on a U channel between Frame 20 and 21

    Digging in the garden

Keep digging who knows what else you might find. You might be even able to put a mystery to bed if it belongs to a missing aircraft.

    Oldest jet

The Comox Air Force Museum owns a DH Vampire that was TOS 10 Apr 1948. When acquired by the museum approx 5 years ago it was flown in to Comox by it’s owner. Although not flown recently we do run it up and taxi it at our Airshows. Nothing was done to it to prevent it from flying the only thing preventing us from flying is money for insurance. Here is link to page on Vampire http://www.comoxairforcemuseum.ca/airpark/vampire.html

    Spitfire quiz

There was one in each wing and they allowed a rope or cable to be passed through so the aircraft could be tied down. At least that is what I beleive they are.

There is a book out there called “Invasion without Tears” this is written by Monty Berger who was an Intelligence Officer with 126 Wing. He was ivovled with the DDay landings and followed the Wing as it moved from site to site. He finished the war and returned to Canada and a career in journalism

Thanks for info. Walking is no problem therefore Red Lion would work for Duxford. Since you drive on the wrong side of the road I think this Colonial will stay away from renting a car. Buses, Trains, Taxis and two feet will be my mode of transportation. John thanks for info about B&B near Shuttleworth. Spit is coming along we are starting to work on the Empennage however still looking for lots of parts. If this works out I am always willing to “Eat, Drink and be Merry”
